Guest guest
Hi Joanne, yes, I would like to know more about the ketogenic diet. I vaguely remember reading something about it years ago. When you are making reference to bacteria, are you referring to the different strains that in the intestinal tract? > > > > Deb > > > > Small lumps are not usually a sign of Fibro, but having said that I get lots of > > > > cysts under my skin. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, Hope today is a good day for you. It seems that you are such a care-giver! It also seems that most people w/fibro. issues are. I hope, that everyone that you help, appreciates your self-sacrificing kindness. And yes, I did understand what you were saying about the diet. It's amazing that you are able to help people on the forum the way that you do, while having such great family responsibilities. You asked about what helped me, I actually sent a link to the company for the products that I used for quite a long time now, w/a blog on the gut/brain connection, but it appears that I must have done it incorrectly as I don't see it. Anyway, the biggest way in which I have been helped, I feel, is that I had to go back to basics, making sure that I had a clean, open colon that was chock full of good bacteria, an ample supply of life's sparks; trace minerals, food enzymes, basic vitamins, & especially for me, B's & D3, good fats and lot's of water, at least 1/2 of my body weight in ounces daily. Most importantly, my diet had to be free of any processed foods, especially those laced w/ANY chemicals and anything shot up with hormones or antibiotics. I didn't even look into the blood type diet by Dr. D'Amado until I had already been making significant progress. There were lifestyle changes that had to be made as well, such as, making my environment toxic free and my clothing, etc. I'm even one of those that had all of my mercury fillings removed. If you had known me when I had first gotten sick, then it would amaze you that I am able to cognitively interact with you in this way. I was effected severely. I could not properly parent my children or do much of anything really, because of the physical issues that I also dealt with on a daily basis. In fact I have a children's illustrated book coming out soon, it's titled; " I GUESS MY MOM IS PRETTY SPECIAL, " it is dedicated to my three sons. It's my story seen through the eyes of a child. It has really helped me come full circle & heal from a lot of the guilt that I have experienced because of not being able to parent my children properly because of the Fibromyalgia. There really is so much more to tell, but to make a long story short, although too late, LOL, this is quite exciting for me, as I have been working on it for a long time due to my limitations. I wonder how many people on this forum, have experienced severe cognitive issues due to Fibromyaglia? > > > > > > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of the > > > > > >site? > > > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Ann - when I was at my worst with this, my cognitive functioning was awful. Being in the information technology field, it was quite a challenge to keep up with the job and it was very frustrating. Holding a full time job was very difficult. That was quite a few years ago. Since I have improved my diet and have been doing cleanses and special protein shakes, I am functioning much better. Another big thing that took away the fog was to stop drinking alcohol. I quit 5+ years ago, and since then I have noticed much better memory and ability to learn concepts. You sure have done a lot of great things to feel better. Keep it up and congrats on your book! how exciting!! Guest guest
Hi Colleen, Thank you, and thank you for sharing. I wish I had thought to connect with a group sometime ago for the moral support of being cognitively challenged. You just sharing your story with me, did something that I just can't explain. I felt like, wow, there are others out there. It almost made me feel a little sad really. Maybe because for the first time, I felt acknowledged and that somebody gets it, so thanks again. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I just take people as they are. I try not to put any more pressures on people, because you really don't know what the other is dealing with. So if a person needs to vent, so be it and w/out judgment. I was raised to be very judgmental growing up, and boy, doe's that do an unfair job on a child. But now, I know better and differently. From a holistic point of view, I choose to try to simply embrace and accept, unless it is something hurtful or derogatory. Everyone has a story that is their own and has the right to express any feelings about it and be heard. So when you express yourself, you don't have to explain unless you really want to, that " normally you aren't like this " unless you choose to. Remember, each day has it's challenges which brings about different feelings. So you certainly are entitled w/all that you have on your plate. Unfortunately, we have the limitations of the computer, so we can't see each other's feelings or emotions, so it is easy to be misunderstood. BTW, where are you typing from? I realize, well I think, you typed a certain amount of money, but I don't understand what you typed. I am from the USA. Also, how long has this group been established and how many members are on it? Another group that I am on doesn't allow outsiders to come on just to sell their products either. I appreciate that because in my opinion, it undermines the real reason for the group. I'm not opposed to being introduced to new things sometimes, however, I don't like to be solicited constantly by people who really are not interested in a group. Anyway, hope you find some joy in this day. Take care, Ann > > > > > > > > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of > >the > > > > > > > > > >site? > > > > > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Ann, It's wonderful to have you on this board. You seem to know a lot about the healing process. Most of us on this board tend to be low carb here, but we all do things a bit differently. But everything you said in one of your posts about the colon being clear of all the garbage and more of what you said is similar to what I believe. I also get concerned about revving up the immune system as I have Hashi's autoimmune, and when I read about certain things I wonder if it will make my immune system start over-acting (a nice way to put it). May I ask what you did to rebuild your colon health? My diet is close to Paleo. I too worry about the cognitive issues. But I'm okay. I could have a better memory, and sometimes my loss of memory is upsetting, but my friends all say that I seem fine to them, but sometimes I feel what they think they see is different than what I know I am not remembering. So I just stay postive. I do wonder how I will work except in an easy job which is fine by me if I am strong enough to do it. Recently I finally looked into Mitochondria damage with fibro as I keep coming across it, but I finally read about it. It can seem so overwhelming when you don't have the money for all these cutting edge products, like this one that helps heal the Mitochondria. I'm very glad you're here. I hope you stay with us. This board is a great support board and I know it helps keep me on track. BTW, I am one who would love to take Coconut Oil, but right now I can't as it throws me into HypERthyroid and it was very scary for me with the heart racing. I feel so jipped that I can't use it right now Again, very glad you are with us. Love, Jean > > > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of the > > > >site? > > > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Ann Yes - I wish I knew about this group back when I first was trying to get a diagnosis and trying to figure out what to do.(1998) I had hardly any support from friends (they didnt understand why I didn't feel good, cuz I didn't look that bad) and none from family. My dad told me it was all in my head. My brother and sister don't understand, and my mom passed away in the late 80s. There are lots of us out here that understand everything you are feeling. I am so glad to be on this site too, even though I dont write often. We have all learned a lot from each other and have supported each other through good days and rough days. Have a great day. Love, Colleen ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Sat, December 18, 2010 10:09:55 AM Subject: Re: Ann  Hi Colleen, Thank you, and thank you for sharing. Guest guest
To Ann First hello, I'm sort of a newbie on here -few months in...I read your post and have many similiarities, including going the route with herbs/ antioxidant's trying to keep my immunity up/ diet change/ stress management. I wanted to say I sure hope you don't have continued issues with your knee and ankle. I took some medication that made my heart race, and before I knew it i was going in slow motion to the floor... but of course it wasn't slow and it was painful as I had stuff in both hands I couldn't drop. I'm surprized I don't have issue with my elbows. But in the process I spranged Both ankles and hurt both knees. This was over 2 yrs ago...and unfortuantely the damnage is permenant. I can'not even go down on my knees to pick anything up off the floor. The pain is excrutionating. The ankles always look swollen and I have this weird bone in the top of my foot now that makes it difficult to wear reg. shoes. I should have gone to the doctor at the time but I was able to walk on them, although minimal as the swelling needed to rest with legs up. After a couple weeks thou I did call my doctor. i've had to have a couple DVT [Deep Vein Thrombosis ultrasounds] since because of swelling in the legs ocasionally. I just wanted to let you know so you can be pro-active if you notice anything that isn't getting better. Thankfully when I fell, I missed my head from hitting my desk by a couple inches. My husband was asleep so I was on my own trying to get back up. I went cold turkey off many med's --although do not recommend this....but haven't regretted to back to my roots < or herbs > I hAVE A wonderful Pain Management doc who supervises me doing this and supports my decision. I'm fighting what looks like the flu bug today...took 4 plus days to figure out I was sick. I knew I wasn't feeling my normal pain but wasn't sure... now my realtor has the flu also and so I told her, " although I don't wish this on anyone, now you have some small idea how I feel everday " she' hasn't been that supportive. Anyhow people go thru their flues, and forget about it after. guess that's just human nature. Hope your feeling well. Were trying to stay afloat, praying a lake / dam doesnt' break and we'll all be under water.... Kern co. Ca. suppose to fix this dam but they put out over 1 million to research how to fix it....how does that make sence??? It will be after the fact they will come to their senses. Even thou we've all seen what katrina damage did. Govt' they just love to play russian roullette. Take care, B > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of the > > >site? > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I didn't mean to post the other message yet, hadn't finished it or edited it yet, so please forgive any errors and wasn't even sure that I was going to send everything in the message. However, my 1 year old grandson pushed the button. I can't even remember where I left off. But anyway, I've had to cut down on just about everything that was energy draining including helping my husband as much. I found that I am so passionate about helping people that I gave much more to others than I did myself. There is a book that I read during the years showing one which nutrients might be helpful in regulating the energy of an autommune system. I remember having an eye opening moment. Never thought about the fact that most things that I was doing was revving my immune system up. Which were creating more problems for me. " We all have to build up our immune systems right? " According to what I've learned, not if you have an autoimmune disease. What a blessing to learn this. It also showed me that just because something is natural doesn't mean that it's for you. Kind of silly I guess, when I think about it, but my Dr. would always say that my immune systems was over reacting, so why had I insisted on building it up. I've also had the pleasure of working w/some Medical Drs. who really helped me on my journey too, as some of them had a holistic belief system to their recommendations. Not sure if I've answered everything seeing that I can't remember what was sent already. I looked at the Paleo diet and it reminds me so much of what I did when properly combining my foods, minus the carbs of course. But what a difference this made on my bowel habits and digestive system as well. It also afforded me a little more energy as my digestive system didn't have to work so hard to break stuff down. What are some natural companies that you have used, I am always open to looking at different products? > > > > > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of the > > > > >site? > > > > > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Ann, What a journey you've been on. To study classes to the pt. you can open a store. Wow. I study a lot, but like you, it's a matter of what I can remember. I just met a man at Trader Joe's Grocery store who was telling my about Schultz and his Formula One and how it cleared his colon, parasites, candida... I wondered if it really did, sounds too good to be true, but you never know. I mean if there was such a product, let me stand in line. But I'm going to look up this Schultz. I buy things from a local homeopath store and Whole Foods grocery store, but less and less as I am finding from people some online low priced stores like: prohealth.com and http://www.betterhealthinternational.com/aboutus.asp The last link was recently sent to me by someone because they found something we both take at this website at the lowest price we've found online. I don't know what to do about the colon. I've been great with regularity and then for two weeks at least constipation and it's no fun and worries me regarding what's going on, but I think it's thyroid. It may be because I've lowered my synthroid because I had too much anxiety. If you're too hypo you get constipated and if you're too hyper the opposite. I've been thinking of colonics, but the money as I said. I may go back to drinking Kangen water after x-mas. I have Enagic's low-end model. I hope it's okay as I haven't kept it covered and humidity is not good for it. I have to learn to relax as I can stress about just about everything. I will look into the colon products you mentioned. Again, very glad you are on board. It's a really great board and a lot of natural stuff, as opposed to some boards that are nearly all drug suggestions. I think drugs are a choice and if you need them it's fine, but I like to hear about natural things too. I also heard of something called zeolite, which I have only found 2 companies I would trust, and I'm not ready to try it yet. But I have a good feeling that in a small, small starter amount it will help me detox my body. Happy Holidays Ann, stay cozy. Love, Jean > > > > > > > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of the > > > > > >site? > > > > > > > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi We run the business out of our home. But we use another office space for massage therapy clients, separate from our house. I am familiar w/some of Schultz's products. And I know a lot of people who really like their products. You really should also consider taking a look at Nature's Sunshine Products. I've used them for over 19 years, they have their own science team which I have found invaluable, as I have had to ask questions that only their science dept. could answer. And I love the fact that I receive a 10% rebate check if my order goes over a certain amount for the month. If it doesn't, I don't care, as I was going to use the products anyway. I think I already posted their web address. There is another company that I also like because they have mind/body sprays as well as herbs. An example of their sprays are; Self motivation, Self esteem, Contentment, Cheerfulness, Tolerance, Power of choice, Senior mental alertness, etc. Their website is newsun.net, not to sure about their rebate program, but if you were to use them, just in case. My full name is Ann Logan. Yes Whole Foods, is where I have to do most of my shopping, unfortunately. I say this because their prices are crazy at times. But I cannot afford to put anything in my mouth that doesn't have their high standards. I can buy some at Trader Joes's and even some of our grocery stores have their own line's of organic products. But I really have to be careful. I just stock up when everything is on sale. Your constipation; it just depends on what's causing it. However, have you tried magnesium or magnesium complex to bowel tolerance, how is your diet(rhetorical ?). Are you drinking half of what you weigh of water in ounces? You said thyroid, how are your vit. D levels, has your Dr. checked it lately, Vit D3 might be something else to look at trying. Also how are your adrenals, are you under a lot of stress? From our point of view, it is not as simple as just being constipated and one just one thing supporting the energy around it, but then sometimes it is. What determines the support is the energy around the constipation that needs to be supported. Hope I didn't confuse you and that you understand. Take care, Ann > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Uhhh, are we taking a vacation or have I been temporarily kicked out of the > > > > > > >site? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Just wondering. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
