Norma,

Thank you. Let's stay in touch on that new law.

Please know that there's a chance she can come back from where she is. If she

doesn't, she sounds like she is sleeping peacefully and that would be the best

way for her to continue on her journey.

as you suggested. There are many things I'd like to do too, but we can't do

everything at once. But I am very sorry to hear that this happened. It's

absurd and avoidable. My thoughts are with you, Norma

, you are always so full of wisdom that I hardly know what to say,

but will tell you that I am sorry. It is a terrible journey that your Mother

has been on, with you sharing it all the way. It is time for a release for

her. It is hard no matter how we try to look at it. Right now it is harder

for you than for her, and for that I am sorry.

Friends,

It looks like my mom won't be making it through the week.

After she fell and broke her arm Fri Aug 7, we took her to the orthopedist

Tues, and got a good prognosis. Her pain med was just her usual tylenol

and an increased dose of the fentanyl (aka duragesic) patch she had already

been on. She had also had an increased dosage of seroquel for

hallucinations a week or so before; it can make you sleep more. May or may not

be

relevant.

Anyway, by Thursday she was sleeping all the time and it was hard to wake

her up to feed her, give her meds, etc. Harder every day. Yesterday very

little, nothing by evening. I asked her if she wanted to go to heaven

soon, and she said, " Oh, yes! "

She seems to be unconscious now. She has wanted to go home to be with the

Lord and those who have gone on before, and she wanted to get away from

the terrible hallucinations, the inability to walk, see, hear, think well, do

for herself, etc. Looks like she is going to get her wish. Doctor thinks

unless she rallies she probably won't live more than a couple more days.

The fall happened because of a law that requires patients have

unrestrictive restraints. They took off her old lap belt in her wheel chair

and put

on one that has a buckle in the front, in spite of the fact that they knew

she knew how to unfasten it. She opened it, got up, and fell.

I think we may need to attack this new law, and I plan to do so when I can.
