Guest guest
I am currently in a state of shock as I am writing this letter. In the past few years I have read of others tragic accidents and losses. Never did I know one would hit this close to home. I have known since junior high school. We both joined the Paris EMS Reserves about the same time back in 97. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Riney, as well as City of Paris EMS FT, PT, and Reserve Personnel. Although I am not currently active with Paris EMS Reserves, I still have close ties to many of the EMT's & Paramedics who are affiliated with them. Please remember everyone in your thoughts and prayers. I would like to say as of 05:00, 's condition has been upgraded to Serious. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas. I spoke with hospital personnel, and recieved this information. Although it is somewhat better than the last report I read, still has a long road to recovery. Again please remember , his family, and the City of Paris EMS, FD, as well as Faught Volunteer Fire Department members in your prayers. If I learn more I will post it to the list. Guest guest
Gene, Good Morning! Has anyone gone to setup an account with the Blood Center for Riney? If you or someone does, then anyone who donates blood can have it credited to his account which will allow him to have the blood, along with the financial credit for the use of the blood. Let me know if I can help. Our prayers are with and his family and friends. It always amazed what strength and support can do for our fellow brothers. Sincerely, Bingham Update on Riney, TJC Paramedic Student Riney, one of our senior paramedic students and a reserve member of Paris EMS was critically injured this morning in a headon collision in which the occupants of the other pickup were dead on scene. had been in class last night together with his friend Yosten, who was on the crew who responded to the scene this morning. Paris EMS is a close-knit group of people, and all the responders, including members of the Fought VFD were friends. was CareFlighted to Baylor Central in Dallas and survived surgery to put his pelvis, which was crushed, back together and take care of his abdominal bleeds. The liver was only contused, and I'm not clear about the spleen, which was lacerated, but I'm not clear on whether or not it was removed. He is extremely critical but stable after surgery; however, he has multiple contusions to the brain. They've put in an ICP monitor and plan to keep him sedated for about 14 days. So his ICP is the critical factor now. They don't plan to do anything more about his extremity fractures until they see how his head does. He had open fx of the left R/U, right T/F, closed fx of the right femur, as well as multiple fractures to the pelvis. A CISD team from Tyler will be in Paris tomorrow for debriefing. Thanks to all who have expressed concern and offered prayers for . Please also think of the crew members who responded, including Doug Garnett, Quincy Blount and his buddy Yosten. Doug is a 20+ year paramedic and an old friend, Quincy is a last year grad of our program, and is, as I said, currently a student along with and Mackey. As last I heard, was 12 units of blood down, and so anyone wishing to donate blood should tell their blood center to credit it to Riney at Baylor Central, Dallas. Will keep the list updated. Guest guest
Greetings all. Since Don was mentioning about spammers, I'd like to ask if anyone knows how these people get your e-mail address. If I get one more advertisement that says " Earn thousands of dollars in the comfort of your own home in a week " one more time I'll scream! I counted 50 messages in my e-mail today with messages similar to these. Perhaps some of you guys can make a suggestion on how I might be able to get off these mailing lists. Thanks for ya'lls help. Have a good one, R. . This is going to be a long road for all of them, especially . Take care, stay safe, and practice mercy, ya'll!!JanaFW,TX Re: Update on Riney, TJC Paramedic Student Hello eveyone, I visited this morning and his status has somewhat improved considering they have him so heavily sedated. Yesterday afternoon he was able to squeeze his girlfriends hand and crack a brief smile for her. Thats all he has been able to do as of now, but like I said he is heavily sedated. They have stopped the mannitol for now and plan to do another ct in the am(mon) to see if they need to restart it,or make any changes. They also plan to start weening him off the morphine and ativan. I feel like we will know much more tomarrow night. His family wanted me to send thanks to everyone that has prayed for him and all that have taken part in his recovery. His mother said she is hearing of what everyone is doing and everyone in his family greatly thanks you! She also said anyone that would like to know more is welcome to call her at Baylor. Well I will keep ya'll posted, Till then keep him in your thoughts and prayers, Mackey SEARCH: eGroups.com Home: /group/www. - Simplifying group communications
Guest guest
Hi everyone, update on as of 21:30 this evening, he has taken a turn for the worse. The CT that was done today showed another bleed in his brain, his fever is up, they have started the Mannatol again, his blood preassure is up today, and they have restricted his vistors. So keep the prayers comming, that is what he and his family need more than anything right now. Thanks to all of you, who have voiced concern and prayer.
