nut milk

I decided to try making the nut milk last night and it turned out great! I

put 1 cup of blanched almonds and about 4 cups tepid water in my blender. I

followed Marjan's hint and left the blender running for 10 minutes. Then I

strained it through a wire colander lined with a floursack towel, I use

these to drip yogurt too. It made the nicest smoothest nut milk I've ever

tasted! I put in about 1 T Frontier Vanilla for flavor and sweetness. I

also saved the pulp, I'll mix it in with pancakes or try to make hot

" cereal " out of it.

Thanks for the hint Marjan, and I'll be trying the nut yogurt next!

We've had a lot of dialogue about nut milk lately and your message made me

anxious to try it. As an adult on SCD, I am very successful with yogurt made

from cow's milk but quite curious about the flavor and texture of nut milk

and nut yogurt. Would the processing work in the " pulp " processor of my electric

masticating juicer? (I need more justification for giving almost a full pension

check for this gadget just to have a daily green drink, but imagine it is

some kind of magic potion)

Hi All, Just a few questions:

is so addicted to rice milk (I've watered it down, but he knows the

slightest difference in taste-he is also an extremely picky eater), I need a

legal calcium supplement to put in his juice.

The nut milk I have made is to gritty for him, but I have yet to try the metal

mesh coffee filter. Before I buy one, has anyone had very good smooth results

with this? Any advice/wisdom welcome.

Thank you,

Grind/swirl/blend/mix for 15 minutes. Result will be smoother. Pour

through your newly bought fine metal sieve (you can use it for all

kinds of things) and see if your son will drink it.
