Guest guest
Teddi, I am in the same boat as you with the weight gain. All this prednisone has really affected it. I have gained 15 pounds, but I am on vacation. I could have been more careful, but I imagine I would have gained some on vacation even without the prednisone. It will be much easier once we get home next week. May I ask how much your scooter was and how do you get it in your car? Teddi, I am going to give you the same advice I got about vacation. Go, have a good time, but rest and don't overdo. Will you be able to take the scooter with you? As much fun as you will have, you will be ready to come home. I am getting really homesick. You have a great trip!!! Gentle hugs, Fern
Guest guest
Hi Fern Well, the scooter was mucho $$$....think they finally got it down to $2700 with the elec trunk lift......since I don't have to have it to get around in the house insr & medicare wouldn't pay for it.....so when I sold my house in Oregon, knowing that was the last chunk of money I would have I went ahead & got it........I only shop in stores that have elec carts but if I want to go to the mall I take the scooter....In the house I don't use aids except when I am working in the kitchen.....then I use my wheel chair.......since my large shoulder muscles are involved it just saves a lot of energy. I use a cane for short distances (very short).....I don't have much staying power! No, I am not taking the scooter this time....I am taking my folding wheelchair......my girlfriend that I will be doing things with doesn't mind pushing me and she is one of the few people I don't mind asking. Before I got the scooter I had a " Roll Aid " it is a unit holding 2 batteries that locks in place under the folding wheelchair and provides elec mobility.......it was quite a bit less but still pricy...isn't everything for disabilities??? Now I'm wanting to sell it. Didn't mean to write a book....lol Teddi - dm
Guest guest
After my 24hour sample the doc prescribed Benicar, a BP med, said it was to slow down the proteninuria. I haven't been on it long enough to say whether or not it is working. I go back to the doc in 5 weeks and I will give an update then. I wish my creatine was back at 1.4, that is where I was at when diagnosed a little over two years ago. I pray it stays at that level for a long time, lucky you. Guest guest
I don't know whether some of you already answered this before, after reading Rita's post, I am just wondering, should I worry about the creatinine # more than the proteinuria #, or the other way around? Or may be you can't put priority on those things. (FYI, my creatinine # from the 24 hr tests were .8, .7, .8 and protein was 0.9, 1, 1.1g. Thanks) Lily Re: update How would say that`s much better than not too bad, Rita. Glad to hear it. Pierre update > > I have just got my lab results. Guest guest
Well, it depends on how high the proteinuria number is. If it's very high, say more than 3 grams per day, the priority might be to lower that (because heavy proteinuria causes its own problems). Otherwise, serum creatinine is more important because, it IS a measure of kidney function. Proteinuria is not.
