Lynn,

Here again, we are all individuals. I drove my car the next

day. And when I had the first implant removed on a Friday (and

replaced), I went back to work 4 days later, and I had to drive 35

minutes in Denver traffic to get to work. Some may need more time

off. You need to be sure to have clothing that you do not have to

pull on over your head and probably a very snug front-hooking sports

bra. You need to be sure you fell free of the anesthesia and

clear-headed. And you need to not be lifting anything at work or

home for a few weeks. You will be able to judge by how you feel how

much you are up to doing. I don't think anyone could give you an

airtight formula. You are young so will probably recover faster than

some of us older members.

What is FMLA? I probably should know this.

Hi Lynn,

I had my surgery on a Monday and was off the entire week - but I had

to stay in Cleveland until the output of my drains was acceptable so

I couldn't leave until Friday. Explant surgery was much more

tolerable than implant surgery, and I found it much less painful.

I'm not sure how FMLA works, I've never taken it.

Hi Lynda,

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

It protects sick days taken. My employer is not able to hold these

days against me during performance reviews, etc. It is protection.

Women typically use this during maternity leave. It protects there

job - the employer can't replace them while they are out.

I thought that recovery most likely depended on the individual but

thought I should ask. I want to be as prepared as possible. I also

want to discuss this with my HR department, once I have spoken to Dr.

Huang, to find out exactly how much time I can take and if it will be

protected. I would prefer as little as possible, but I want to

prepare for the worst case scenario.

Thanks,

Lynn

Thanks Sis,

I will have to study a little bit more about the drains. I am sure

Dr. Huang will explain it all to me during the consult as well. I

have heard many of you talking about the drains but I haven't had

time to research exactly what they are - kind of nervous to.

It is so good to hear that it wasn't nearly as bad as the implant. I

was in horrible pain but I still went to work. Too worried about

losing a job. FMLA Family and Medical Leave Act is a protection for

chronic and acute conditions. Many pregnant women use for maternity

leave.

Lynn,

Yes it does for sure sound like the truth to all your symptoms is Breast Implants. I can't wait until you get them out myself..

I will pray someone cancels and you get in there earlier... Good Luck

Lynn,

When they showed me the drains prior to surgery, I was a little

apprehensive about them, too, but after the surgery they didn't

bother me. I thought I'd be grossed out by them, but I honestly

wasn't. It sure helped to keep the swelling down, which seems to

have contributed to keeping the pain down as well. I, too, found

the implant surgery very painful, so compared to that explant was

much much easier.

Lynn,

Been there and done that..... They love to give us drugs to cover up the implant sickness... It does more harm than good to our bodies... Take control and bring your doctors some information on breast implants sickness. Write a letter to them and compare your symptoms.... Maybe they will listen to you....

Good Luck

Lynn,

Worst case would be two weeks, but most likely not over a week. At

least for most people. I have known a few women who took more time,

but as I said, it is all individual. The sorest thing often is the

lift. The one I had on the side where I did not have a mastectomy

was sore for 3 months. I think is a better surgeon than the

one I had, so hopefully it will not be sore too long, but it was

certainly not sore enough to keep me from working.

Lynn, If you can work now, and unless you are doing something really physical or lifting, you should feel up to working in about a week. . I started an 8-hour day AutoCad class five days after my surgery. I wasn't in tip top shape, but I could function. Only a psychologist taking the same class noticed something wasn't right . . He recommended a book on ADD in Aduts. LOL! . .. If he only knew! Rogene

Lynn, If you returend that quickly after implant, it sounds like your job would allow you to return as soon as your drains are out .. . That's the question you won't know until you get there. Hugs, Rogene

LOL....

I sit a a computer all day. I do have stressful work though where I

have to make decisions. But currently I have brain fog and short

term memory issues - oh and the psychiatrist that I see for the

depression/anxeity, that I have been recently diagnosed with, has me

on klonopin and remeron (anti-depressant/anti-anxiety).

So with that being said, I am sure that my mind will be clearer than

it has been since my health started taking a nose dive in December...

Lynn,

Be careful of those drugs, as they are adding additional toxins to your system.

Hi Lynn,

I started taking Xanax because the fatigue was really bad, and Xanax

eased that up quite a bit. It helped with the brain fog, too. I

knew the Xanax would not be permanent, but I used it to get me over

the hump. Yes, it probably does some negative things to my body,

but at the time the benefits outweighed the negatives. When I

started tapering off the Xanax was when I noticed the pain in the

side of my head was no longer coming back when it was time to take

the next dose.
