This has been long accepted fact

Indeed when I was diagnosed in 1996 at age 50, people I met said either it's a man thing or don't worry it won't kill you.

I contrast this against man who continues to fight hard after being diagnosed with advanced cancer some years ago. He, and I, cannot understand the reluctance to screen the majority in the UK. This is not to take action (other than active monitoring) in all cases, but to try to spot most of the cancers before they become agressive.

Screening will pick up lots of things, including BPH and infections. You wouldn't take action on one test other than increase monitoring.

Yes, PCa is not an immediate death sentence, but for some us it is a major battle that a small percentage loose after an unknown number of years.

With articles like this the headlines can lead to complacency and the needy cases can be missed. The press don't headline 5% of PCas lead to death - or whatever the figure is. The headline will be Men with PCa live long.

We need a balance!
