Guest guest
It's pretty obvious that one location can't suit everyone. I'm in California but because of family am willing to go to Ohio. The New England area doesn't work for me. Maybe Carolyn should see how much West Coast interest she can generate; there are several PLSers in California. Guest guest
Carolyn: I have the map of the USA in front of me, and it looks like Ohio in not in the middle of the country, to me it looks like, Kansas, Nebraska, or S. Dakota or possibly Missouri (isn't St. Louis the gateway to the west). I really don't know, but I can see where your coming from. Maybe we should all limp, crawl or be wheeled into Vegas (can you picture that?) LOL. I think, per usual, it will be difficult to all agree on one destination, and who would be the person making that decision, I only represent the " New England Group " . But it's good to start planning now, and to see actually how many are in a position to financially make the trip. Lets get a headcount and some suggestions from the peanut gallery. Guest guest
C et al: I would be thrilled if it were in Iowa, Des Moines for example, or St. Louis, or Sioux Falls, South Dakota, or Omaha, Nebraska too. We live within a few hours driving distance from all those places, as we live within 1 Mi. of Minnsota, just across the Iowa border. Count us in as far as I know now. I would really love to meet lots of you. Do you think Las Vegas could handle us? Could get pretty rowdy! Guest guest
I think a get together sounds neat and, like everyone else, the closer to my home the better. One thing I think should be considered- a PLSer will have to coordinate this so it should be near a volunteer's home so there are minimal problems with logistics. Guest guest
Laurel: A few years back, & I toured the USA by car. One of the highlights of our trip was the Black Hills in the Dakotas, it was wonderful. There was so much to do and see, we spent only 2 days there, and we always said we wanted to go back. They were just starting to carve Chief Crazy Horse, out of the side of a mountain like Mt. Rushmore, fascinating!!! Guest guest
Some locations have better air fares than others. We might want to find a " Hub " city and base the " halfway " mark on airfares and ease of getting there. Any travel agents out there? Some places are just easier to fly to than others. That can make a big difference. Others will be driving and ease of driving usually goes hand in hand with ease of flying, but not always. We really need to find someone that has some travel experience to come up with a good suggestion. > Carolyn: > > I have the map of the USA in front of me, and it looks like Ohio in not > in the middle of the country, to me it looks like, Kansas, Nebraska, or > S. We had some friends just come back and said, it was so hot there.I had some other friends tell me that they saw alot of people in wheelchairs there. Maybe we could start a caravan. Ha Ha. We were talking about Crazy Horse the other night because it was on T.V. He works with a guy that went last year and he said it wasn't done yet.
