Guest guest
My GP blew off my thyroid also. Funny thing is my OB/GYN is the one who pushed for testing after noticing that my thyroid looked swollen. Sad thing is that the doctors who primarily work on the other end know more than the ones we are supposed to be able to take care of everything else. Scary!!! Needless to say I stopped seeing my GP shortly after that. Good luck with your tests and docs! Kim Re: Waiting for tests (HyperT) My Mom is hypo so I would ask for some blood work every few years - my last being 4+ years ago. My OB/GYN noticed my thyroid gland being swollen a 2 years ago, but when I went to my GP - she blew me off. This last time I went to the doctor b/c I was trying to get pregnant, but wasn't having a menstral cycle at all. She tried to blow me off, but I demanded blood work. So here I am. I just got more extensive blood work done today. Next week I have 2 thyroid scans then the following week I have an ultrasound. Once that is all over - I have to decide how I want to be treated. My doctor didn't go into any pros or cons of any of the treatments, but I'm going to try meds first.I'm sorry to hear about your poor treatment from doctors in your past. It's all so frustrating.Holly> Definitely let us know what the results were... Guest guest
I was diagnosed by an orthopedist... on sight... then verified with labs.... I'd been having problems with my shoulders.... she had me take off my shirt and mimic the movements that she was making so that she could see how I moved... I think I completed the second movement when she started asking questions and then pulled my chart.. She told me that I was hyper... AND that my chart showed I was hyper when I'd been in 10 months before.. and that the doc chose NOT to test! His reasoning... even though I'd lost 40 pounds in a month, had a BMI of only 21% BEFORE I started dropping the weight.. he felt that I was too fat to be sick.... Guest guest
It was the opthamologist who said that my eye problems(fast -growing cataracts and glaucoma, both at a very early age)were endocrine-related(thyroid! non-diabetic).
