Guest guest
Hi All, I am another one who doesn't write all that often, but I always read the posts. I send my heart prayers to all of you in pain, facing cancer (Ron) or disappointments (). My adrenal cyst appears to be benign. My endo wants a follow-up MRI in three months. My ovarian cyst is gone, so that's more good news. I have a bone scan next week (most of my pain is in my joints and bones). Then I swear I want to take a break from the medical jungle. A latest blood test showed I am low thyroid, so I began Armour thyroid today, 30 gr to start. A couple of my friends said I should use Armour. Any of you know any reason why I should not?? I am mildly hopeful that this may shift things for me, since I have learned that being low thyroid can cause pain and weight gain. Last Friday, after my yearly mammogram (ouch) I was walking back to my car in the parking ramp, when an elderly gentleman backed up and into me when he left his parking place (OUCH!). I was thrown onto my 'good' knee and hands and arms before tumbling over. The good news is: I am not seriously hurt, nothing broken. However, I was hurt and am so afraid of more setbacks. My knee is better tonight (I can bend it), but I am noticing pain in my elbows, writst, etc. This is just so freaky to me. I think my 'bad luck coupons' should be used up by now. Ah well, the only way to go is forward, limping or not. What's that saying? I felt bad about having no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. Shoes or feet or not, the collective courage of this group helps me to go on. Thanks for that. J. / MN
Guest guest
Hey as a 40 year user of thyroid, I can promise you that when my thyroid is low my hips are the first place for increased pain, and that was even before I was dianosed with FM. The reason some believe in Armour is that it has T4 and T3. Usually when a patient is given just T4, their own thyroid will then begin making T3 and T2 and T1...I am one that won't. For 40 years I have taken just the T3, and any time they add even a small dose of T4 I will end up in the ER room distraught. So I just remain deficient in T4, evidently my body won't metabolize. But the T3 is great. From what I have read, way back in the 20's it was used in psychiatric hospitals to help with mood stabilization also, and I think that it is better than any of the antidepressant drugs they have tried me all which all led to weight gain and more symptoms. So be glad they have you on the combo that should help a lot of symptoms. I also have lots of cysts, ovaries, kidneys, etc. Mine just come and go with no problems.
