Guest guest Posted July 8, 2004 Report Share Posted July 8, 2004 There was only one thing that was ever said to me by a doctor on this sbjct, but it wasn't the one that did my hyst. This doctor was the second one I saw, begging him to do thyroid tests, but he didn't. Anyway, I was wondering why I was low in everything, with NO progesterone. He didn't know anything about the progesterone at that time, except as relates to the inside of the condition of the uterus inside. I wanted to know why this, if I still had one functioning ovary? He did tell me that, once this balance has been surgically disturbed, we do have a tendency for the rest of what's left there to "die out". What you're saying is probably very true because in my late twenties I had the tubil first, and thereafter is when the heavy bleeding started, and all the other problems slowly started coming into focus. It was 5 yrs after the tubil (not the hyst at age 35) that I was diagnosed as not making ANY progesterone. It would have had to have happened after the tubil, as before that, I always had a very healthy body, very healthy uterus and female parts, symptom-free periods, with them right on time all my previous life. The doctor that did my hyst later on said that I had mild endometriosis, but I had never had ANY symptoms of it prior to the tubil. Everything happened after the tubil, including the thyroid disease, which could have been connected (one cause) to lack of progesterone for so many yrs. Most people that I know that have had a tubiligation have said that forever after, they have had heavy periods and more painful periods. I don't one single woman who hasn't. Re: my intro & cry for help-undiagnosed thyroid problems, surgery, diet- I'm edumom:-} I live in a more temperate climate than Texas, but I'm having hot flashes in air conditioned places like Walmart and the hospital, after I've been there an hour or so. My obgyn didn't feel it was necessary to have an estrogen test done, I'm only 42. I tried breaking a synthroid into quarters this morning and took just one piece. hours later, I was so dizzy I had to go lay down, which is what happened before when i took whole pills, except I didn't quit taking the pill until I was so dizzy I couldn't lift my head off of the floor. I've had the worst depression of my life this spring and I'm just getting over it. But yesterday I had a deep cavity drilled and filled, and today I feel sorry for myself again, between feeling lousy and the extra pain. I wonder if the hot flashes, thyroid goiter, depression, etc., etc. can all be a result of something in my thyroid. Still waiting for my test results. Trying to compile a list of questions for the Dr. when he calls. He has always called himself, which does impress me. sincerely, edumom, mother of boys ages 13-15 NO GIRLS ALLOWED!!!!
