I do not know how to get Disability if you are unable to function from fibro,

but I read this and I am sharing this in case this is your situation and I am

sorry if it is. I hope no one feels this bad, but it's certainly understandable.

Here is what someone wrote:

" Yes, that's pretty much all they want at the SSDI office - just the

paperwork. It's your doctor's details that can make or break your case, so I

hope your doctor is on your side 100%. Don't ever give up, though, even if you

have to go to court. Just get one of those attorneys who accepts 1/3 of your

back disability pay after he/she wins for you. I think that's called

" contingency " , if I'm not mistaken. Take it all the up the chain of appeals, and

don't surrender. You know you need it and that you're qualified to get it, and

that's what counts. Go to a doctor regularly even if it's a county Doctor and

get what you are going thourgh documented by the doctor. Also talk to an

advocate for disability about how to word your fibro health issues or other

issues. You can be crippled but if you don't get that across they don't know it.

You just need to tell the SSI board about the things like not being able to

walk 10' in front of you without help. Also, the big thing that will come into

consideration, is your mental health. If you are suicidal, if you want to give

up trying, if you don't care anymore, etc. If you have planned a way and time

you will kill yourself. If you cannot live with fighting the pain the rest of

your life. That gets their attention big time. I told them I wanted to jump

off the 3rd story of my apartment building onto the sidewalk below, and do it

head first. Needless to say, that got their attention to listen to how bad my

pain is. I brought x-rays to show them all the clips and staples holding my

insides together. And brought reports on the neuropathy in my hands and feet.

Really, you have to show them what they are looking for. Not all your blessings.

That isn't going to show them how bad off you really are. But you are there over

the pain you are going thru, that keeps you from working. "

I hope no one is this bad, but I know this condition can destroy a life without

boards like this one to help us know what to do.

Love,

Jean
