Guest guest
Hi, I'm thinking of trying the diet for my 4 year old ASD son. A few questions to those parents who are also gf/cf: 1) did you stay cf when starting the diet? 2) how picky are your children? (mine only eats a handful of food--I looked at a sample diet and realized he wouldn't eat anything on it) 3) how many of you have seen improvement? In many of the testemonials I've read the parents talk about " getting their child back " but my child did not regress---he's always been the way he is. I guess I'm just looking for a few opinions. My son has been on this diet about a year and a half and I don't know that I've seen any changes. Thanks.
Guest guest
Hi Marcy, If you have been GFCF we recommend that you stay CF for the first couple of months, anyway. This way when your child has symptoms from die-off (lethargy, tiredness, more stimmy, irritable, etc.) you won't blame the yogurt. My daughter was very picky pre SCD, and still is very picky, but at least the dozen or so foods that she WILL eat are completely healthy and will allow her gut to heal, as opposed to the bread, fries, chips, etc. that she ate before. I hope you decide to give this diet a try. It is a wonderfully healthy way to eat. My girls' immune systems are so good that we have seen only one little cold each this winter. Last year my younger daughter (NT) had cold after cold after cold. Sue (from Pickering) Mom to , 4, formerly? ASD, SCD 10 months > Hi, > I'm thinking of trying the diet for my 4 year old ASD son. Guest guest
> 1) did you stay cf when starting the diet? of course > 2) how picky are your children? in the past, oral-motor defensiveness, picky, but eats everything now. Sometimes I need to help him along a bit, but telling him the food is good for his tummy & poop, he'll eat anything > 3) how many of you have seen improvement? we have seen a lot of improvements. My son was also born with lots of difficulties, he has had no regression. So things can literally only get better, we don't know where this stops. I forgot to tell you that there is a very safe alternative to get probiotics into your child: nut yoghurt. Excellent taste, great yield, no casein, no lactose, safe. Recipe on pecanbread.
