Guest guest
form the long island list server This information may apply more to crohn's sufferers than any other, you be the judge. It was discovered I was a tad anemic, so the doc gave me some ferrous sulfate. Along with this I took extra vitamin C to help the absorption of the iron. After about two months of taking 2-3 thousand milligrams of C/day, my conditioned seemed to be dwindling. Now, maybe the following information is common knowledge to some of you but it was a revelation to me. Apparently the walls of crohn's infected intestines thicken as time goes on. This is caused by an overproduction of collagen in the area. Vitamin C feeds collagen. I was a smoker and my crohn's did not kick in until after I quit smoking. (Smoking depletes 100 mg of C / cigarette). Smokers grow older in appearance quickly mainly because of the lack of collagen development through the depletion of vitamin C by smoking. Does any one know of anyone who has started smoking after a resection? Did the crohn's stay in remission? Just curious! I thought this information might be nice to share.' i wonder if the ferrous sulphate as a non haem form of iron also contributed to the decline of his condition? i
