Guest guest
Hi Lovell Yes you are correct it is common after childbirth to get clots. It is good that your doctor is being conservative. For me Pradaxa worked and if I have to be back on blood thinners I know it does not make me sick to my stomach and I can function. Glad to hear you dont have any genetic issue. God Bless Ciao- Ange ________________________________ To: " fibromyalgiacured " <fibromyalgiacured > Sent: Thu, January 19, 2012 9:35:25 AM Subject: Re: Re: Tina Vitamin K , Yes, I have been tested for any abnormalities and they found nothing. I think getting a clot after childbirth is not that unusual. I assume that becomes some of my veins were already injured that the last blood clots occurred because of that. I go to the cancer center here because that is where my MD sent me for all the test and this doctor agreed to monitor my Coumadin. I asked him a few months back about switching to Pradaxa and he said absolutely not. He said he would feel better about it after more data is in. Most doctors are only prescribing it to patients who have atrial fibrillation. Maybe later I will be able to switch. I had five blood clots in my brain last year causing a stroke at 42 and was put on coumadin but switched to Pradaxa after a few months as Coumadin was making me nausea. Here is a link of foods that thin your blood. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071201092117AAh05us Sadly once you have blood clots it does seem like you need to be on meds for them considering how life threatening it can be. Obviously staying active helps I had numerous blood tests and nothing so far has shown up genetically so for me they think it was a hormone I was put on three months before the stroke. I also developed a fistula in my brain which I just had surgery so they have me off of Pradaxa and I think they are going to let me stay off it. Pradaxa worked for me I could eat whatever and I did not have to get my blood tested You do have to take it twice a day. It has been prescribed in Europe for a few years. My doctor said this year a US drug maker will be coming out with a similar drug. Good luck Ciao- Ange
