Guest guest
for your information--best eggs to buy are those from a local farmer who actually lets his/her chickens out to eat in a pasture. free range eggs from grocery stores are not guaranteed to be truly free range. i have read that there are no regulations to calling your eggs free range other than to let them outside for any period of time during the day--you could let them out into a chicken run with no grass--just dirt and still call those free range eggs. i have my own chickens and let them out most days to really free range on my 3 acre property--they eat grass, worms, bugs, frogs, veggie scraps...the funniest thing is to watch one chicken catch a frog and then have to play keep away from the rest of the hens who run after her trying to get a piece of it. (my eggs have the darkest golden yokes ever) I will buy store bought eggs once in awhile to compare the yolks---even the free range eggs from the store cannot compare to mine. and the really cheap white eggs that come from the battery hens that stand in cages all day--their yolks are so pale yellow it is pitiful to call them eggs. I only have 11 hens now, lost 5 to raccoons lately--i need to get more because i can't keep up with the demand of my customers and my own family. julianne On Tue, Nov 23, 2010 at 2:30 PM, Joanne Ford wrote: > > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=345XJ31pBgM > > Love joanne > >
