Guest guest
........remember the OJ Simpson trial? They used PCR testing for some of the blood samples. PCR stands for polymerase (spelling?) chain reaction. It is a highly sensitive test for various substances. In the case of mycoplasmas, they can be very hard to detect in the normal lab setting, although they can test for them. With PCR testing (only available in a small number of labs) the results are more accurate. Naturally, they are more expensive :-( I think somewhere in the vicinity of $250, depending on how many varieties of mycoplasmas they are testing. Hope you are having a great day, Vicki. take care and lots of hugs, Connie QUESTION > > Hi Connie....hope your having a good day. Guest guest
So Connie, you mean your big clinics wouldn't have this type of lab equipment? I mean like UCLA, UC , etc. I'm just wondering, if these large clinics don't have this lab equipment then how can just a handful of labs afford them.... I'm just a bundle of questions so please forgive my stupidity..... Vick-PM
Guest guest
Hi , Both fish oil and flax seed oils are anti-inflamatory. I used to suffer from both tired legs, and pain in my knees. But since I stopped taking margarine or butter on bread, and replacing them with flax seed oil. the symptoms disappeared over time. If this sounds too drastic, try 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil daily. Pete. Fish Marie wrote:Hi Everyone, I have a question for you. I have a bad knee that I'm upsetting everyday because I have become a Substitute teacher. My question is does anyone know of anything I could take for the pain and swelling? The doctors are only allowing Tylenol and they want me to start physical therapy. Any herbal ideas? Guest guest
Someone might want to correct me but Epsom salt baths help with phenols. I didn't believe it myself but my son went nuts(no pun intended) with carrots when we first started the diet. Someone suggested that the baths would help and he calmed down like you wouldn't believe. The baths help the intestinal tract to disburse the phenols appropriatly. It's amazing. ~Sheri
Guest guest
Hi, how does anyone deal with the high phenols on the SCD diet if your child is very phenol sensitive? ( honey, almonds, fruits, ect..) The other question I have is has anyone heard of virus in the gut caused by the MMR vaccinations, sometimes referred to as measles in the gut? I also would like to know if going GFCF before introducing SCD has proven less difficult for them ( the child) than them going cold turkey SCD? Has anyone done this ? was improving after eliminating dairy and most phenols from his diet and we were going to go gluten free with the flours but eliminating the rice and potato flours and any rice or potato's. I know this is a SCD board but every child is different, with different problems. does not or did not have diarreah or bad stools, but goes off the wall with phenols and dairy with the exception of yogurt which seems to keep him on an even keel. I know SCD is a good diet but for aa 22 month old it is very difficult. has regressed back to the summer with the head banging, crying, sceaming and the dark circles are back under his eyes. Does anyone use enzyme supplements, legal ones through Kirkman to help them on this diet as far as help for yeast, bacteria, viruses, phenols?? ...Thanks for any help.... It is a safe and sound shortcut to healing. GFCF is sugar-loaded and unwise. > does not or did > not have diarreah or bad stools ....but how is his gut flora? For you this makes no difference. I should think the diet is as easy for a 7-year-old as for a 22-month-old. Or as hard, whatever. Guest guest
You could try Phenol Assist and Lauricidin. Yes, measles can be in the gut. Guest guest
Right, I'm sorry I gave my son potato snacks all day on gf/cf. Rice and soy, too. :-( Re: Question > The other question I have is has anyone heard of virus in the gut > caused by the MMR vaccinations, sometimes referred to as measles in > the gut? go to (for instance): http://www.nichd.nih.gov/publications/pubs/autism2.htm > I also would like to know if going > GFCF before introducing SCD ...>snip< ...I WISH I had done SCD BEFORE anything else. Guest guest
Hi Shirley, I'm not sure if this is right, but I thought I heard that vitamin A can help with measles. My son is very reactive to phenols and salycilates but since we have done SCD it is improving a little. Meanwhile we stick to pears (all pale green or yellow varieties, including Asian pears), cauliflower, endive, celery, onions, diakon, occasionally yellow string beans, and use macadamia and chestnut flours. Honey can be high in salycilates, so we try to use it just twice a week, and try to use stevia the rest of the week. This is not always easy. We have to be careful even of what he gets on his skin, (marker will cause big problems) or even breathing the fumes of regular play dough will really set him off, and if he touches it, look out!
