Jim,

Figured I would give some input on this one seeing as I was in a similar

situation.  I was taking MS Contin (long acting morphine) for about 2 yrs when

my insurance was interrupted.

A one month script for MS COntin was $800.  I paid it for a while, but when the

cost became too ridiculous I looked for another option. i.e.  the methadone.

I've been on it for about a year and it works as good as the morphine did.  But

remember this, everyone is different.  It wouldn't be fair for me or anyone to

say its the right decision, only you can tell for yourself.

BTW, I take roughly 20mg, 3x's daily and prior to that was taking the MS Contin

200 mg in a.m. and 200 mg in pm..   This dosage took time to get to however if

your are not feeling relief DEFINITELY let your doctor know, because I had no

withdrawal when I titrated from the MSContin to the methadose.(just an FYI)

Hope this helped

ease the withdrawel from the morphine and still help control the pain.

will save me money because, he could write a bigger script for the

methadone and save doctor visits.
