Guest guest
Thanks for this article, , I've been dealing with a SEVERE case of edema in my legs.. the left is the worst. This article, I believe, has provided me with the answer as to what got it so bad lately. I've read that fructose can prevent conversion of T4 to T3 at the cellular level. Fructose is a simple sugar found it fruits and is often a sweetener added to soft drinks and MANY other things that we consume daily. I got some food items from a friend a few weeks ago, stuff that she didn't use (they are elderly and get government commodities) I got about a dozen cans of assorted fruit juices. Including Pineapple and Orange. My most favorite juice is Pineapple-Orange. I had two cans of the pineapple and four cans of the orange. Without even thinking about what I'd read months ago about fructose I mixed up a batch of juice. 2 parts orange to 1 part pineapple and 1 part water... I spent the next two days drinking nothing but my delicious juice... Two days later my legs both ballooned, the left to the point where the skin felt like it would burst. This article, combined with that other one, tells me that what I did for nearly two days was cancel out much of my T3 conversion and pushed myself hypo, causing the exaggerated swelling. I say that cause I do have a patch of pitting edema, but this puffiness of the last week is unreal! Well the rest of that juice is going to be bottled a frozen... I know now that I can only have small amounts with plenty of water before and after. I'm of the belief that most things we can still have, just have too be aware of the negativities that they entail and compensate for them. So. for the juice, drink sparingly, as a treat to enjoy, and plenty of water before and after to compensate for my body not being able to assimilate it as well as it used to. For much of the first part of this year I was able to get oranges at a GREAT price and for about 2 months I had the luxury of having one or two oranges a day with no ill effects.. so I know I can handle it in moderation. This sure eases my mind.... understanding what triggered this, I had my suspicions, but wasn't really sure... Isn't living with a hypo body sheer joy! NOT Topper () *who's finally getting better at typing sideways - so I can keep my leg elevated I end up sitting at a goofy angle at the keyboard! hehehehe* On Mon, 14 Jun 2004 22:10:44 -0700 "her_fathers_eyes" writes: here is some info, talk about scary!!! Guest guest
I'm absolutely floating away with water today... bathroom every 30 minutes... gonna flush this stuff out of me if it drowns me!!!! The juice is in the freezer... in 12 oz. bottles... I'll figure that I can do a 12 ounce bottle over 4 days... and not do more than one bottle a month.. I'll see how I do that way... as it was I did 3 quarts in a day and a half with no water.... The swelling is down but I have a monster headache.. that might be stress.. I get stressed out easy...
