Guest guest
Hi everyone, This is my first posting to the group though I have been going through the archives quite for sometime. My son (6years, ASD) is on scd for the last five days. Unfortunately he is not doing well. He has been getting constipated for the last 4 days. He has a very bad history of constipation, fissures, bleeding etc. So I am scared to continue this diet but at the same time I don't want to quit because I am hearing so many success stories with this diet. The first 2 days I gave him chicken soup with cooked pureed carrots. (Before I put him on diet he used to eat chicken every alternate day.) On those two days he was really hungry and asked for his regular food. ( He has been on GFCF soy-free, corn-free and a lot of other things free diet for the last 2 years. Also because of yeast issues I kept his starch intake to a minimum before I introduced SCD). When I didnt give him any snack he ate a banana ( very ripe with a lot of brown spots) and an orange which he never used to eat. By evening his mouth was really raw and his palms and soles were really warm. He said " hands ,legs hurting " He is really spaced-out, wants to lie down on his stomach. Please I need some help to figure out what is causing his constipation. regards Sakuntala
Guest guest
Hi I just wanted to add in regards to the " hands' legs hurt " A while back when my son started a new enzyme, " before this diet " he complained of hand pain, shaking his hands but at the same time his fine motor stuff got little better. I surmised he was getting more feeling to his hands some how. I don't really know why but I just wanted to share. Guest guest
Sakuntala, Constipation is common in the beginning. Go to Elaine's website: www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and search the knowledge base for " constipation " . You can also search back through the archives of our old list by going to the home page over at the old Lyris list..... although I'm going to have to ask someone else to please post the web link because gremlins took over my computer recently and erased several folders of saved e-mail. ( So...... can someone please post the link to Elaine's Children???) Don't worry...... he's going through some die-off symptoms, which is also very common. Epsom salts baths and/or activated charcoal supplements can help. I'm sure getting some relief from the constipation will make him feel a lot better, too. I'm sorry he's going through this.... I know it's stressful for you. Rest assured that many other parents here have been through this and can help you out. Patti, mom to Katera, SCD almost 9 months need some help!
