Guest guest
Hi - Lyme was originally called Lyme arthritis in the 80s. Yes, I'm with you, Joanne- trying meds could be a simple thing, to see what works. I think the doctors make it more complicated than they have to. The meds either work for us or they don't. It is a trial and error kind of search. The reason I knew about clindamycin is that we had already tried to find an antibiotic that would work for a finger infection three months prior. So when I came in with a Lyme diagnosis, I thought I'd try it out, and, it worked for me! The fact that it worked has caused considerable discussion on Lyme boards ever since! Even Lyme doctors were not prescribing it as a first-line antibiotic. I have not shied away from letting them it works for me. Turns out we're having a discussion now on a major Lyme board and maybe are reporting taking it, also in IV form. So, in my experience, I say to pay close attention to what you respond to well or don't. Re whether to proceed with meds without testing, it's nice to test if you can. But keep in mind only 60-70% are testing positive who have the illnesses. So, many people are treating with meds even tho their test came back negative. Later on, many test positive because their immune system has been strengthened enough to be able to react to the illness. www.canlyme.com/seronegreasons,html for 27 reasons why we might test negative. - Robin Re: Jean Joanne, I have never seen a case where they don't have to take them for a good length of time a month to 2 months at least and usually if I remember what I read it's much longer if they've had it a while. I also saw a site where somemone listed where to buy these antibiotics and the low price. but the thing is w/out testing you need certain antibiotics I beleive to target certain bacteria. I don't know if it's legal. But I don't know it all well enough but I'm sure it's something like that you take cetain Antibiotics for certain bacteria. And I understand what you said about just skipping the testing, but I don't think that would work, but maybe Joanne, maybe. Ask Robin. I wouldn't want to put myself through the regime for nothing. But when I have taken Diflucan or whatever it's called lfor Candida, omg I suddenly feel incredible. So it may be hit and miss and some very well might have luck and get well as you said. Robin was so lucky after 25 yrs. one antibiotic knocked hers out. There's the Divine hand.
