Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for your kind notes. We are back home after his implant surgery yesterday. All went very well and recovery has been pretty smooth so far. The initial testing of the implant (done in the OR) showed hopeful signs of improved benefit but we won't know for a month when he gets turned on. They changed their minds at the last minute and decided to change the implant on the same side rather than doing the other ear. We are taking a gamble on the problem being the device itself and not a CHARGE ear anomly. There were some indications that the problem was device failure and not Bryce's inablity to receive the sound.Time will tell. Surgery was easier on this side because his anatomy on this side was relatively normal and it was more abnormal on the other side. We are glad to be home, as always. Deedee, Mom to Bryce, age 6 with a lovely bandage on his head but not in much pain
