Guest guest
I just read the site that someone sent regarding stool consistency and discovered mine indicated malabsorption. (They float. Almost always.) I am entering month 5 and have made progress only to backtrack, progress, backtrack. I have yeast in the corners of my mouth, and finally took a week's worth of Diflucan, which did nothing. I am now trying Candidase (an enzyme which is supposed to eat yeast.) I tried taking out honey and fruit from my diet, but I am also anemic, and after a few days I was so lightheaded, my heart was beating out of my chest, and I just felt awful. This was around the time that Elaine was angry about people perverting the diet by eliminating fruit and honey and said that it was dangerous to do it this way. So I got scared, and started eating a little fruit and honey again. (And felt much better.) So I'm sort of wondering where to go from here. Yeast is obviously an issue on my lips (and probably my gut as well.) I thought I'd just cut back on honey, as the only fruit I eat is a banana every day and sometimes some applesauce, but the honey creeps back in quantity in my yogurt, etc. I probably need to just cut it out cold turkey, as I am not very good with moderation. I gained 20 pounds within the first 3 months of the diet (very needed), and only go to the bathroom 3 times a day. But my bowels are still sore, and my poops smell strongly still, and though formed in a weird, flat, nugget sort of way, are definately not trophies. There are, however, absolutely no bits of undigested food, and I eat a lot of carrots and green beans; it makes me surprised that there are not even particles of the vegetables, so obviously I am digesting somewhat well. (Or am a very good chewer. So, I don't know what to do at this point. Get agressive with the yeast? Do you think I'd be a good candidate for the enzymes? Or just have patience, and slowly over time, wait for the yeast and stool type to change. I am eating eggs, green beans, carrots, chicken, beef, fish, prosciutto, artichoke, squash, asparagus, apple sauce, banana, honey, yogurt, cheese, beets, spinach and chard, butter, olive oil. In a pretty balanced ratio, but I think I could use more vegetables. I have been having banana pancakes every morning with some honey on them and also honey in my yogurt. There is absolutely nothing illegal in my diet. I want to add, I have also been taking a drug that nuetralizes TNF activity (Remicade), which is part of what attacks bacteria contributing to the inflammatory process. But TNF also attacks yeast and viruses. I have had the mouth sores for over a year, way before I began this medication, but since starting the medicine, they have never gone away. They used to come and go. So it's a trade off, for a few weeks after the infusion (that's how the drug is administered), I have no inflammation and feel great, but after that, the above poops slowly creep back, and the nagging pain with gas. I am feeling discouraged, and just wondering if for now, you would recommend adding something to encourage healing. Or just have patience?
