Guest guest
Hi.. I think he could but don't know where to find it here. Do you have a brand you have found that is legal?? I'd love to find it. Thanks Kristy! > > > Hi... I will be checking the archives, website and everything else > > but just wanted to ask for some quick help. Guest guest
Chicken, or meat and vegetables. Nothing wrong with dinner at breakfast. Is he eating meat, poultry and vegetables? To be sure he gets enough carbohydrate, hide applesauce in meat loaf. On Saturday, January 10, 2004, at 10:43 PM, adoptinggrace wrote: > Hi... Guest guest
Hi Carol... he eats chicken and some veggies and loves applesauce and pearsauce. And he loved eggs! Oh well... but this one seems harder than many other things we've eliminated since it is used in sooo many SCD recipes. I'd love to know how to sub veggies for the eggs.. I know someone mentioned that on the list once. I'd look at archives and see if I can find it and if it can be done on more than baked goods. Thanks Carol! > > > Hi... Guest guest
Is it the whole egg? have you checked the yolk and the white separately? Can he eat nuts? I use nut flour in meat loaf and adding apple or pear sauce makes a delicious loaf. You can even use some peanut butter. mashed cauliflower is a good extender as is mashed butternut squash or the famous " Zucchini noodles " .. Guest guest
Thanks again Carol. He has off the charts sensitivity to both yolk and white. I do the meatloaf with veggies etc and he has that all the time for lunch/dinner but I guess we may do it for breakfast too. Thanks for the ideas of things to use as an extender... I'll try some of those. This new allergy info makes all this much more challenging to do and stay legal... but we will! I found an egg-free muffin recipe on pecanbread.com that I am going to try as soon as I get walnut flour. When we can eat raw fruit we'll be A-OK so maybe that will be sooner than I think. Thanks again! > > > Hi Carol... he eats chicken and some veggies and loves applesauce > > and pearsauce. > Carol F. > --------- > c.frilegh@s... > Toronto , Celiac SCD 2 years > There is no substitute for the right food! > > >
Guest guest
It may help you to know that when I started SCD I was allergic to eggs and lots of other foods and now have an egg each and every day and it is one of my best tolerated foods. I even wrote the Egg Marketing Board here asking them why they promoted and glamorized a food high in cholesterol and one many people were allergic to. Now I feel like a fool but an egg loving fool. Guest guest
Carol... how long into SCD did you " lose " the egg allergy?? We are 12 weeks or so and he was VERY high... severe on his sensitivity. I wish he could overcome this... it would make SCD much easier to do for sure. Thanks again for any info. Have a blessed week! > > > > > > > Hi Carol... he eats chicken and some veggies and loves applesauce > > > > and pearsauce. > > > Carol F. > > > --------- > > > c.frilegh@s... > > > Toronto , Celiac SCD 2 years > > > There is no substitute for the right food! > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I am an adult and have other health issues which we can't compare to your child. There are allergies and then --allergies. Sometimes there is a genuine and allergy with consistent reactions. the tests show it and there is a reaction and the child every time the food is given. However there is another scenario. The immune system has the job of standing on guard for your body. When it senses danger it goes into action whether there is actually a hostile enemy or not. For me that means one day strawberries or pineapple are just fine, and the next time my eyes are itching and I get a skin rash. That's why you have to be guided by your own child and leave out the eggs until significant healing is under way and then you might try tiny bits again with medical approval. Never never persist or introduce a food that has given an anaphylactic episode! Guest guest
I just found some at my local Winn Dixie. It is in a green cover and is by the regular bacon and says sugar free. Guest guest
, was this an ELISA allergy test, skin prick, ??? Does he actually have reactions to eggs that you have seen? When we had Ben blood allergy tested while on GFCF he tested allergic to everything that was the mainstay of his diet. I am talking over 28 foods. Ben is only truly allergic (meaning we saw immediate hives and runny nose) to all legumes. We faithfully eliminated everything from his diet that he tested positive for 6 months and I did a four day food rotation. Guess what, no change in him at all. Not only that, but he didn't even test allergic to certain beans and when I challenged them, immediate hives and runny nose. I guess what I am asking is have you seen a true allergic reaction to eggs, and if not, do you truly feel they are a problem? I think a lot of the IGG tests will show up positive for something if you happen to be eating a lot of that thing at the time of the test. Maybe instead of eliminating eggs (if he does not have a true allergic reaction to them) you would just want to cut back on them and serve them every other day or three days, etc. and see if you see anything on the egg days. Feel free to e-mail off list if you want. Take care, steph o. mom to ben 6.5 pdd/adhd scd 16 mos ps I am only asking because I hate to see the diet get more complicated for you if it doesn't have to be.
