Guest guest
Hi CC Each parent only donates one gene for blood type. There are four blood types possible/ 1. Type A, which is made up of either AA (two A genes) or AO (one dominant A gene from one parent and one recessive O gene from the other parent) 2. Type B, which is made up of either BB (two dominant B genes) or BO (one dominant B gene and one recessive O gene 3. Type AB, which is made up of one A gene from one parent, and one B gene from the other parent 4. Type O, which is made of on one recessive O gene from each parent. Hope that helps. Guest guest
, It helped me. I have always wanted to know and now I do. Thank you! (Oklahoma) Re: Blood Types?? Guest guest
Sorry I wasn't clear CC. Siblings COULD have the same blood type but not necessarily the same. For example: Mother genome is AO Dad's genome is BO With each offspring, the mom can give either an A gene or an O gene, but not both, and the dad can give one B gene or one O gene. Here are the possible outcomes: Child one Mom gives A, Dad gives 0, child is type AO (called type A) Child two Mom gives O, Dad gives O, child is type OO (called type O) Child three Mom gives A, Dad gives B, child is type AB Called type AB) Child four Mom gives O, Dad gives B, child is type BO (called type Hope that is more clear. Guest guest
You are quite welcome. Glad to know that my enduring genetics class in college was useful so many years after graduation :-)

Guest guest
So do siblings with the same parents have the same blood type or not? I guess I must be IQ challenged if everyone else got it and I didn't (LOL). Sorry CC Re: Blood Types?? > Hi CC > > Each parent only donates one gene for blood type.
