Sheila advised only using it occasionally for coating things etc. I told I was concerned about flours from bulk food bins. i would appreciate additional input. We use coconut flour from www.nuts4u.com I had tried the ground up coconut from food bins at Wild Oats, but had to put it in my grinder to make it more fine. Also, I was concerned about possible contamination with the food bins. I spoke at length with the people at Nuts 4 U and am confident that its coconut flour/meal (which is ground up coconut) is NOT contaminated with any nut flours (which Nuts 4 U also sells). My son has nut allergies, so nut flours are not an option. The coconut flour is working well for us, and I can tell that my son's intestines are healing. Just an FYI, we are using vegetable glycerin instead of honey, although we may add honey in the future. Carol F. Re: Coconut flour , about two weeks ago this topic was raised and finely ground coconut IS legal but coconut flour is not. What are you using? We do not permit use of gluten-free flour, only flour that is simply ground up nuts. Please check this out. Carol F. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
I don't remember the recipe off hand, but if it calls for any water, use Cranberry juice instead. That will turn it red. Jody
Guest guest
Forwarded from Elaine: Date: Mon Dec 22, 2003 09:13:50 PM US/Eastern A little coconut flour (once progress has been made) is OK in coating things or as a minor addition to baked goods. IT SHOULD NOT BE USED INSTEAD OF ALMOND OF PECAN FLOUR IN BAKING. It is much too fibrous.
Guest guest
That is interesting because I searched Lyris and Elaine suggested that a Mom use it to try to make waffles. It is also listed as legal on pecanbread. Zachary 4.3 ASD? SCD 3 months
Guest guest
I guess it's listed as legal on Elaine's website v. pecanbread. Really, I just don't know what else to do. I'm going to try the flour and see how the kid does with it. Thanks for pointing this out though. Zachary 4.3 ASD? SCD 3 months
