Stem cell therapy

Carolyn,

I have a limited understanding of stem cell

research. Nonetheless, I understand that although it

has great promise, it has not yet been shown to work

for any disease in humans.

All new medical treatments and drugs are illegal

here unless they are first approved by the FDA.

(Although the FDA does approve applications for

experimental studies.) A true physician interested in

helping his patients (and not just lining his/her

pockets) goes through the FDA process. This way

everyone knows that an FDA approved therapy is

reasonably safe and effective.

That someone claims to be doing stem cell therapy

just across the border in Mexico shouldn't surprise

anyone. There are always those willing to peddle an

attention grabbing new " snake oil " on people desparate

for a cure. And the smart ones stay out of the

country so that they never have to bother with the

last step of a successful U.S. based fraud--flee!

Interesting that their new therapy works on every

disease. If true, their treatment should be the

blockbuster drug of the 21st century and they should

be trillionaires. They should have an army of

investors scrambling to get in on the action, so that

they can share in the amazing profits to come from

" the treatment that cures everything " .

And all of this money would easily pay for the

treatmnent to get FDA approval.

Alas. I'm willing to bet that the clinic is small,

funded only by the desparate suckers that cross the

border seeking the impossible from a few poorly

trained scam artists.

My advice--beware!

Mark
