There are other mouse options for regular computers that are made for little kid's computer games. I haven't stayed up on what's out there right now, but perhaps checking with a local computer store or website might help. OTOH you'd also need to see if it would work with the simon. Glad to hear that he's gotten something that helps and that he likes. Guest guest
, sorry it's been so long for a reply, we have had a crazy 2 weeks. the intellitalk is a program that allows them to type, it says the letters and words, and repeats sentences too. he just uses a regular keyboard and mouse, but I know they have overlays or whatever you call them for the keyboard, and I imagine you could use a touch screen or whatever too. it has a lot of ways to use it--our main objsective is to get him used to the keyboard and to be able to type his spelling words and other writing projects for school because penmanship is such an issue for him. (the whole writng process). you can do all kinds of things with itthere is a web site www.intellitools.com that wass on the disc and a phone number . it came with a notebook telling you how to do things--overlays, etc. and ideas. let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be glad to help if I can. I haven't done too much with it yet, but he has fun just typing letters. I taped up some of his sight words by the computer and he practices typoing them too. Guest guest
Thanks, Sounds like Timmy is working on the same things that is working on. He is also a first grader, right? I suggested to the school that we pursue keyboarding with because of her laborious penmanship. She is proud of her handwriting, but it takes her soooo long to write. Then I saw your post. I will research it further and see if we can get our AEA to fund one. Another battle, but one I know I'll win! karen On Friday, April 18, 2003, at 09:06 AM, maria halloran wrote: > , sorry it's been so long for a reply, we have had a crazy 2 > weeks. > the intellitalk is a program that allows them to type, it says the > letters > and words, and repeats sentences too. he just uses a regular keyboard > and > mouse, but I know they have overlays or whatever you call them for the > keyboard, and I imagine you could use a touch screen or whatever too. > > it has a lot of ways to use it--our main objsective is to get him used > to > the keyboard and to be able to type his spelling words and other > writing > projects for school because penmanship is such an issue for him.
