Guest guest
When I was first diagnosed by a urologist who had been practising for some 30 years, he gave me a short list of things to do prior to the surgery. 1. "Go on vacation with your wife or signifigant other and act like it is a honeymoon." 2. "Go donate 2 units of blood and put your name on them for later use." 3." Do your Kegels! Do at least 250 reps per day in sets of 5 or 10. Do them watching TV, driving to work, in the shower, sitting at your desk but do them religously. Simply tighten and release the muscles of your anus. The ones you use to ejaculate. You can hold them for 5 seconds or so for variety if you wish. If you have an erection make it jump up and down." At the time I knew little about PCa and it's treatment but I can now appreciate the wisdom of his advice. I subsequently opted for Cryosurgery so my operation was bloodless but I was continent from catheter removal onward. I have read about patients doing Kegels after surgery but I think getting the muscles built up beforehand makes great sense. Guest guest
I agree . I was doing 300 kegels per day for a couple of months prior to surgery and there is no question that it helped me. If nothing else it gets you used to a routine. I also believe that kegels help improve erection quality as well. And talk positive. __________________________________________________
