wrong with me: I'm a nurse.  I have L1 - L3 herniated discs and L-4 has no theco

sac.  All the fluid is gone, so I rub bone on bone. I have seen 3 surgeons and 2

neuro surgeons.  They all say that there is nothing they can do.

Toni, I'm so sorry you have so much pain as a result of working to take care of

others.  I'm a disabled nurse, also, and I've gone to the ER for help only to be

told there's nothing they can do.  I'm very stoic, but I remember bursting into

tears when the ER doc told me my rheumatologist told him to send me home.

I hope you can get some pain relief.

 Take care of yourself, Janie

Hey Toni

I have heard a couple of stories identical to yours and can say it seems these

places would take more safety measures to make sure that people like you arent

put in that situation. That completely sucks.

Also, I went through the same thing with dr's. I think I went thru, in all,

about 12 or 13. Its ridiculous I know, but its also important to know that

sometimes theres a reason to not finding the right one right away. Maybe its

because you are being prepared for a successful surgery instead of the risks of

the dr's that turned you down :)) I hope so.

I really hope you dont have to go through what I went through. It is horrific

the things the medical community puts people through, but you can bet your ass

that when one of their family gets hurt or sick they get treatment right away.

Hang in there Toni and remain diligent. My most positive thoughts are with

you,

Tim

Hi Toni,

I am sorry the ER treated you that way!  I have collapsed from pain being that

bad before.  I hope you can get some relief soon for that.

I am also sorry to hear the other nurse wasn't very helpful when it came to

handling the situation that caused you this chronic pain.  I hope and pray that

your pain will ease up!

Love,

Becky in SD

Toni,

I apparently read that story wrong....I apologize. For some reason I had it

in my head that you were an employee when this happened :(

Sincerely,

Tim

I was the employee. I was working the night shift at the hospital. I'm a

nurse. This all happen helping another nurse putting her patient (300+lb stroke

patient) that should not have taken out of bed.

This nurse did not follow the instructions in the chart. She was fired because

she put the patient and me in danger. I was left permanently disabled since

2001.

Janie and Toni,

I feel so terribly for the both of you.

This is why I have more and more inpatience with doctors. They aren't

really out there to help us. They are out there to glorify each other

and help line each other's pockets.

It is due to stories like the two of yours, I have not had my

husband take me to the ER at all. My orthopedist notifies me when he

is the one on call for the weekend if I do need him. It doesn't serve

me well at all on the other weekends that he isn't on call.

I pray that you both get productive help soon,

Lori

Toni,

Yes, I responded the first time getting the story right. For some reason there

was another response that threw me off making it sound like you were hurt when

you went the ER. Sorry about that. I am glad you are here and hope you are doing

as well as you can be :))

Healing and Peace

Hi Toni,

I'm an RN too that is going through the same things that you are. I worked

as a nurse for 24 years and it just amazes me that we put all those years in

helping patients and our employers and the hospital system is the first ones to

turn their backs on us. We don't have anything to show for it except for years

of misery.

Sorry to sound so negative, but it just upsets me so much. I was also told that

there is nothing that they can do for the pain in my lower back. I had a

microdiscectomy that turned into a failed back surgery syndrome that hurts 5x

worse than it did before surgery.

And 2 weeks ago I had an ACDF. Hopefully I will get relief from the pain I have

in the upper part of my body.

My prayers are with you Toni! I hope that you can find someone that can help

give you some relief. Are you going to pain management? I don't remember if you

said if you were or not. Anyway, take care

Donna
