Guest guest
Okay, I am wearing my nomex under-roo's, so here goes. As Paramedics we need to listen to what the nurse is saying, not how s/he is saying it. If the nurse is being a moron, put him/her on ignore, nod your head were appropriate and walk away. Then go to your unit and let your supervisor know what happened so that if anything comes of the conversation your tooshie is covered. Most of the friction I see in the ER comes from the fact that RN's are taught in school that they are the " patient advocate " and the " patient care team leader " (they are in charge of the LPN's and CNA's). In school Paramedics are taught that they are the " team leader " (in charge of the EMT-I's, EMT-B's, and ECA's). Do you see where this is going? Then you run into the problem that most Paramedics are male and most RN's are female (I said most folks), so you run into the gender issue of men not liking to get lectured by women (admit it guys...there is no shame). In general, it would be in your best interest to answer the RN's questions politely and thoroughly, listen to his/her reply, acknowledge that you heard what s/he said, and go on to the next call. Just my thoughts, Webb PS: I am a little overweight, can you guys set your flamers to " medium well " so I can sweat some of the fat off? =) ______________________________________________________
