Thank you for approving our membership. I did check out the YANA

website & didn't realize how long I spent browsing it - way after my

bedtime now. I can tell that I will be returning to it often.

is 53 with a PSA of 417 at diagnosis (12/21/06). He will have

a biopsy 01/03/07. The cancer has spread to the bones in his left

hip. Hormone Therapy started 12/21/06 (Casodex 50 mg, Finasteride 5

mg and monthly Lupron shots will start 1/02/07)

In November 2004 's PSA was 4.0. His urologist told that

he had an enlarged prostate and and an infection that was at least a

couple years old. After about 9 months of antibiotics got

frustrated because the pain was increasing in his back/hip and the

urinary/ED problems didn't seem to improve. In November 2005

had an MRI that was read by an orthopedic surgeon who saw nothing out

of the ordinary.

After an MRI on 12/04/06 our family doctor told that he had

bone cancer and that it " didn't look good. " He is no longer our

fmaily doctor. We met with an oncologist 12/13/06 who made no

diagnosis, ordered a PSA, PAP, Cat Scan, and bone scan. On the 21st

he made the diagnosis of prostate cancer and set up with a new

urologist for the biopsy. I was unable to go to his appointments on

the 21st (had to take my 16 year old to the airport). Fortunately my

Mom went with him. I am looking forward to his next appointment with

the oncologist 01/11/07. I am going to be better prepared with

questions and understand better what the doctor will be telling us.

Again thank you for approving our membership. Unfortunately we are

no strangers to cancer. 's Dad died 4 years ago due to cancer

and my Dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in June 2006 (at

age 63 he is still putting up a good fight). One of 's good

friends is an 11 year survivor of prostate cancer. Unfortunately he

now lives over 800 miles away.

score and staging in a couple weeks.

Hi and , Welcome to the group. Its my father that has been diagnosed with PCa and we have found this group very friendly and informative. There is always someone with an experience to share. We were overwhelmed by the feelings of loneliness when we first had the diagnosis but finding this group really did help us and I hope it does the same for both of you.
