This is probably going to be too long and complicated but here goes.

I'm looking for support from people who've been through this. I

don't know if my dad is terminal or not. I'm okay with whatever we

find out but I need to know (part of my anal, plan every detail

personality). 18 months ago he was diagnosed with a PSA of 120+,

gleason score of 9, and non-specialized cells, T2 (not sure a,b,c,

etc.). Pretty grim. He was told to have radiation which he did not

do. He's 64, 45 yr smoker, uninsured, and has made some pretty crappy

choices. Fast forward 18 months...

Since the end of Oct. my dad has been hospitalized twice for a total

of 31 days (including Christmas). He's now sleeping on a twin bed in

my formal dining room. He has renal damage which required

nyphrostomy tubes and stints in his ureters. He was dialized twice,

but that's over thankfully. He has to " go " about every hour and it

is painful (lots of moaning). He has lost a lot of weight and is

weak. Most recently he was treated for renal failure, low BP, and

MRSA infection-sepsis. He took Vancomycin (wide range antibiotic)

for the MRSA which took out the good and bad bacteria, so now he has

upset his natural flora & fauna...the list goes on and on. He

complains of being dizzy (low bp??) Tomorrow we are going to the

clinic for a Procrit shot...very expensive (like 2 grand!). Luckily,

the state is now helping to pay his medical bills.

We are going to the urologist on Thursday to discuss an orkiectomy

(removing testicles -- sorry guys) to remove testosterone hormone and

hopefully shrink tumors. He will still need radiation to be cured

(if that is even possible!).

We don't even know if the cancer has spread to lymph nodes, bladder,

etc. I don't think it has metastisized in the bones. He had a scan

and they said just arthritis.

Anyone have any experience with this that they are willing to share?
