Guest guest
I usually but 1 1/2 - 2 cups into his bath water. First I mix very hot water right into the measuring cup, so as to disolve the crystals, then I just mix it with the rest of his bath water. I also poor my bubble bath (lavender baby wash) right into the water. My little guy has no problem at all staying in the tub for a long time... many times I have to pull him out! I have to say though, the first week we started the epsom salts bath, Liam pooped in the tub TWICE!! My husband thinks that maybe he was just so relaxed from being in the tub so long that he just " let go " ! Could be, but I'm happy to say, that it hasn't happened since! Guest guest
>>>> heard epsom salt bath maybe caouses more hyper and irritablity. Is > it true? With epsom salts, a reaction maybe: 1. person immediately feels better, calmer, sleeps great (yea! just be happy) 2. person feels worse, negative hyperness, moody (probably detoxing too fast). Reduce the amount of salts in the bath and do again. Some parents have gone as low as a tablespoon of salts in a bath. And then slowly work up as possible. This allows the detox to go slower and at a more comfortable rate. 3. nothing, no change at all. With this reaction, try increasing the amount of salts. The typical amount to shoot for is 2 to 2 and a half cups per bath. If this amount still doesn't produce good results, then the epsom salts may just not be one of those things that helps the person, and go on to something else. . Guest guest
If that happens you lower the dose to where it does not cause the hyperactivity and slowly increase it. If you get hyperactivity when using 2 cups of epsom salts per bath, try 1 cup or a half cup or even a few Tablespoons, then build up over a few months. epsom salt bath I heard epsom salt bath maybe caouses more hyper and irritablity. Guest guest
What was it you said about perioxide?
Guest guest
Depending on the size of your bath tub, put 1-3 pounds of Epsom salts in hot water and soak for 20-30 minutes. You can get Espom salts at any drug store - sometimes grocery stores. Espom salts draws toxins out of the muscles, and helps restore Magnesium to the muscles. You may enjoy doing this before bedtime because you'll probably feel very relaxed afterwards. Rogene
Guest guest
You can add 3% hydrogen peroxide to a bath . . . Hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria. It's great for cleaning wounds, or cleaning a countertop! Maybe one of the ladies will chime in with the proper amount. . . Tub sizes vary so much, it's hard to be exact though. Guest guest
Here's a link explaining the rationale for the use of epsom salt . . . http://www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm Here's a thread on the subject of heavy metal contaminants in epsom salt . . . http://www.autismweb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14433 & highlight Someone on this list mentioned Whole Foods as a good source. You might also consider Kirkman's magnesium sulfate cream which you can apply to your son's skin. The company has a general statement on their site which says that they " pay particular attention to the purity of our supplements, avoiding ingredients that contain known allergens, heavy metals or environmental toxins " . This should also be true in regards to their cream. http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/Default.aspx > > I have a 3 year old autistic son. Is epsom salt bath effective and safe?
