Guest guest
I hope you are feeling better, I was told by my endo and surgeon (I had a thyroidectomy 3/15) that without a thyroid, you cannot have a thyroid storm. I asked them the week after my surgery since I had read alot about them and was terrified. I also just had RAI treatment and asked the same question to a different endo, my nuclear med doctor and my surgeon (again) and was told the same thing. Prior to your thyroidectomy did you have any hyperthyroidism issues? Guest guest
Thyroid storm is possible immediately after thyroid surgery, as it takes some time before the thyroid hormones have dissipated. Yes, I had hyperthyroid symptoms since last August. In addition to the nodules, I had thyroiditis, which gave me the hyper symptoms. My main one was PACS (skipped heartbeats), which diminished and went away; but it took 4 to 6 months for them to go away. Nick
Guest guest
I am actually getting rapid heart beat since being put on synthroid. I started it 10 days ago (after my RAI treatment). I am hoping it either subsides or my endo can lower my dosage. I just can't wait to feel somewhat normal again... Guest guest
Topper, I was started on .150mcg of synthroid 4 days after taking the 150mci dose of rai. The rai was used to destroy the remaining gland after my TT. I had bi-lateral papillary thyroid cancer which fortunately, did not spread beyond the nodules.
