Guest guest
Cece, You really only need to do a couple of days of intro..... four is plenty. You mention your son eats grapefruit...... are you cooking this? All fruits should be cooked at first. The stages chart is only a loose guideline..... you should not consider it a strict protocol at all. It is not part of the official SCD according to Elaine's book..... it's something we came up with (actually, Jody made the chart) to give a rough idea of what foods are usually introduced first, etc. Each child is an individual and you need to make adjustments accordingly. The more important thing is that you're cooking all fruits and veggies (except ripe bananas) in the beginning months...... and making sure there are no sources of trace illegals. Patti ----- Original Message ----- We are on day 4 of revsisiting the intro diet. always eats up to two grapefruits a day. I am wondering how deliberate I should be with the stages that are recommended on pecan bread? Thanks again. Cece
Guest guest
Patti, has not had any grapefruit since last Friday. These were not cooked because I had gone through all of the beginning parts of the diet before. He is around the 6.5 month point now. However, I have a question about something you wrote. You said that all fruits should be cooked at first. We did that when starting the diet back in June. I started with rippened banannas and don't think that I got to things like grapefruits for several weeks. But your post says " The more important thing is that you're cooking all fruits and veggies (except ripe bananas) in the beginning months. " Maybe this is where we went wrong. has beautiful stools at around the 3 week point (end of June 2003) and most of the summer we had progressed to raw fruits and vegetables. I don't have my book with me, but I thought we could do that once there was no longer the pressence of diahrea. I have gone over this so many times, so I know that there are not any trace illegals. What do you think about the re-introduction of yogurt? Should we wait several weeks/months? Thanks, Cece > Cece, > You really only need to do a couple of days of intro..... four is plenty. > > You mention your son eats grapefruit...... are you cooking this? Guest guest
" What do you think about the re-introduction of yogurt? Should we wait several weeks/months? " I don't think you need to wait to use the yogurt. In BTVC, yogurt is used from the beginning. We have most of the ASD kids wait because they have been casein free for so long that we don't want people to confuse a bad initial to the diet (die off) to a bad reaction to the yogurt. If your son has already been doing well on the yogurt, then I would go ahead and continue to use it. Jody mom to -5.0 and -7.
Guest guest
Hmmm....... yes, that was way too soon for raw fruit and veggies. Yes, even if no diarrhea, the whole point is to make everything as digestible as possible until enough time has passed that significant gut healing has taken place. Three weeks, or even six weeks...... probably is not nearly long enough. I don't know on the reintro of yogurt. If he was tolerating it before, I don't think you need to wait. It's like you just went back and did a little jump start to clear things out with intro...... but I would not do raw foods for a while, seriously. Guest guest
here in tasmania we have a very good quality thick cream with no additives 'king island cream' and i just smother fruit with it and it seems to help a lot. good cream has anti virals and anti bacterials in zinc methionine is a necessity with scd imo. > Hmmm....... yes, that was way too soon for raw fruit and veggies. Guest guest
Why is zinc methionine different than regular zinc. Putting on zinc oxide is that possible as well? jody cd,scd year Re: supplement questions & re-visiting the intro diet. Hmmm....... yes, that was way too soon for raw fruit and veggies.
