Guest guest
Dorothy .. Notify the guidance counselor at Chris's school .. you can do so anonymously if you don't want to cause a problem in the family. Just send a note to the counselor saying you are concerned for Chris's eyesight and believe he needs his vision checked. Make sure you tell them of the problem he has with not being able to tell letters apart (such as the P and Q). They can do a simple vision check there at the school and if he does need glasses, the county school nurse can recommend it. If after all of this, still refuses to buy him glasses, someone needs to remind her that knowing your school age child needs glasses and not arranging to get them is child neglect and puts her in jeopardy of being charged with such. By contacting the guidance counselor, if his eye sight turns out to be okay, but he still shows he is having problems with telling the difference between p and q .. it will alert the school that needs to be tested for dyslexia (a learning disability). Either way .. the kid needs help .. and no matter what .. someone needs to step in and say .. HEY .. check this kid out!
