Guest guest
Amy, Great to hear that you're gonna be in a position to see your doc and get a handle on this... I love hearing about a doc that cares.... It would be great if you could keep us posted.. a lot of us have had issues with headaches.... and it never hurts to add more info to what we are learning. Guest guest
The two medications that he has me on are Axert (12.5 mg) and Zomig (2.5 mg). I'm starting off with the Axert and the minute I feel a slight headache I have to take one tablet. If it's not gone within 2 hours I can take another. I actually had an episode on Tuesday afternoon and took an Axert right away and within an hour, I was feeling great. Thanks for caring so much! I'll keep everyone posted. Guest guest
Amy, I'm not saying that what you're doing is wrong... I'm just curious about something.. and since you have a diagnosed ailment.. I'm just dying for you to try something... ... if you'd rather not.. that's okay.. There is a theory that when you have a headache it also involves the arteries. Sometimes they swell/enlarge to allow more blood to come through because the brain needs more oxygen.. sometimes they constrict to reduce the flow of blood because there is too much oxygen... I played with this for a lot of years.. sometimes it worked.. sometimes it didn't.. when I got the hyper (need to eat now or a die) headaches it didn't help... and when I got the hypo (way too low on meds wish I were dead stage) headaches it didn't help either.... You very likely have a different kind of headache... so.. again.. I'm curious... When the headache starts... if you do deep breaths hold for a count of 2 and then slowly exhale.. and do that for a couple of minutes... it reduces the size of the arteries... decreasing the pressure that it causes and increases the oxygenation of the brain..... If that doesn't help.. you it could be a case of having too much oxygen.. so then you pant.. like the lamaz breathing for giving birth... this causes a shortage of oxygen and an increase of carbon dioxide and causes the arteries to expand to normal.. You don't do it too long.. or you pass out.. so you only do it as long as you feel 'okay' then stop.... ....again.. if it's not something you care to try that's okay.. but if you do... could you let me know what happens?
