Guest guest
Have you done baths with epsom salts? The magnesium really helps with detoxing and calming the nervous system. Patti, Katera's mom Not sleeping since started SCD- Ideas? Hi all. We started my 2 kids on the SCD 8 days ago. Since day one, my son has not slept well and has not slept through the night. I thought it would pass as we got beyond the Intro diet but no luck. We've tried Melatonin, warm baths, etc. and nothing seems to be helping. We want to give SCD a good trial run of at least a month or two but this sleep problem is effecting the whole family. Any ideas would be great. Also, has this happened a lot with other kids? Is there a reason behind it? Thanks, Sondra steviesarasmom@...
Guest guest
sleep is very dependent on the serotonin pathways from tryptophan, melatonin is only one part of that pathway and while a help is not adequate if dietary tryptophan is short. are you getting adequate milk products like the yogurt and legal cheeses? 100 mcg or so three times a day of solary lithiun aspatrate can also help if the diet is short of it and there is some adrenal wasting. > Hi all. Guest guest
Hi , Turkey is supposedly high in trytophan. I guess that's why so many fall asleep after turkey dinner (unless washing the dishes). Guest guest
Hi Sondra, When my son eats foods that are highly phenolic, he doesn't sleep well. We ended up eliminating any foods that are highly colored, and bananas. So my son eats endive, cauliflower, daikon, iceberg lettuce, celery, nappa, pears and occasionally green grapes. Another idea, are you familiar with cranio sacral therapy? This can help a lot with sleeping issues; at least it did for us. Good luck, I know how tough it is when your child doesn't sleep.
