Hypothyroid diagnoses seem common among diagnosed type 2's. But I truly don't

know if there is an association between sluggish thyroids and diabetes, or

whether doctors, in their lack of experience with low-carbing, are

prescribing thyroid pills in a desperate attempt to rev up our metabolisms

and cause weight loss, to aid our control. They do want us to have good

control; sometimes they just don't know how.

to be reduced? Right away, I experienced *HYPER* symptoms when changing my

diet from one very high in carbs to locarb.>>

****No, not right away. Now I moderate carb (100), and it took 3 years of

gradually decreasing carbs and gradually decreasing thyroid meds. This last

physical (in Nov.) was the first time doc noticed hyperthyroid (enlarged

gland a little), but I hadn't been in a year, and was taking .5 Synthroid

once a week. That's interesting, Barbara - a correlation between lc and

reversing hypothyroid for some of us? I know that hasn't happened with

everyone, so it might depend on amount or type or cause of hypothyroid.

And to the lady that started this discussion with newly diagnosed

hypothyroid and dm, from what Barbara has said, I'd reiterate my advice

about lowering your carbohydrate intake alot. Looks like it might improve

your hypothyroid as well as get your bg's in control. And I know that Dr.

Bernstein's Diabetes Solution addresses thyroid as well. Great information

in that book!
