When doing the diet by the book (Breaking the Vicious Cycle), honey is used from

the beginning. Some of the ASD parents have chosen to either restrict or

eliminate honey due to their concerns about yeast....... but this is not SCD

protocol at all. Each parent needs to be the judge as to whether or not they

feel their child cannot tolerate honey but Elaine would say go ahead...... in

fact, drizzling a little honey on the veggies might get the kids to eat them

more readily. It also works great as an ingredient in dipping sauces. It's up to

you. All things in moderation, though....... it needs to be used in sensible

amounts.

introducing honey

We have just finished the intro diet and are starting Stages 1 and 2 (my son

will only eat the apples in Stage 1, no bananas or pears or any veg's, so we're

heading right into Stage 2). My question is, when is it good to introduce

honey? So many of the recipes use it. In your experience, will delaying the

start of honey help a child develop taste for veg's?

Honey can be omitted in all recipes with virtually no difference.
