Guest guest
Judy, I love it when I get hit with words like: cardiomediastinal silhoutte, basilar predomimant reticular interstitial thickening without consolidation... and osseous, yeah there's a word I use everyday. If medical people would speak to one another in plain english, they could probably get thier degrees much faster. Must take them years just to speak the lingo. I think it is a plot so that we as patients will be in awe of them! I always get my reports, come home and get on the computer to try to interpret. Some of these phrases here are new to me. Guest guest
Joyce let me help. This all means she is ill and the Dr doesn't have a clue what to do but to baffle her with unheard of words.. That's my story on BIG words.. Guest guest
Joyce, I am not sure which is worse, the docs who speak medicalese or the ones who barely speak English and you can't understand anything they say. My first Pul Doc was Chinese and after seeing my CT Scan said " You sooo unlucky lady have big chunks white all over lungs. Not supposed to have big chunks white stuff, mean no good diagnosis. So Sorry." Somehow the big medical words would have been much more reassuring! Guest guest
Hey y'all, Sorry 'bout all the medical terminology on my chest xray report when I was sick with the cold and bronchitis. LOL Just wanted your opinion of course. Even though I am a piano teacher and have a masters degree in music, I have had through the course of my life, to deal with all kinds of medical issues. My was a premature baby- 31 wks - l pound 9 ounces in 1983 - Tomorrow she is coming home from London and we are going to the Atl airport to carry her back to college. My mom spent 47 days on the vent in 1994 and lived through it, etc. The list goes on and on. Now me. Is it NSIP, IPF, or UIP? I know it is not DIP. Maybe I will figure it out soon but it probably doesn't matter which one it is it does the same thing to the old body. Cheers! Guest guest
Hi Jane, I know you have really dealt with a lot. I have a brother in law that was 1 pound 3 oz. and was put into pure oxygen. He is blind, deaf, mute. He is so smart it is hard to describe him. We talk to him by sign language. He is 52 now. He comes home (here) for the summer then at Thanksgiving through Christmas. OOPs gotta run. back in a few. Guest guest
Wow Jane, You have been through a lot! It is quite a miracle that both your daughter and mother made it through. Hope you are feeling better. pianolady_musicgirl wrote: Hey y'all, Sorry 'bout all the medical terminology on my chest xray report when I was sick with the cold and bronchitis.
