Guest guest Posted February 17, 2002 Report Share Posted February 17, 2002 On August 9-11, 2002, the first annual RSD/CRPS Society Symposium will be presented by the American Society for RSD/CRPS, Inc. and sponsored and hosted by Sacred Heart Hospital, town, PA. The Symposium is limited to 225 attendees. Registration will be on a "first come, first serve" basis. The pre-paid cost of the Symposium is $35 a person and $30 for ASRSD/CRPS local support chapter members (membership card must be presented at time of registration/check-in). Registration fee must be pre-paid by July 6th and refunds for the Symposium will not be given after July 7th, 2002). For those wishing to register on the day of the Symposium, registration cost is $40 at the door (late registration). Tentative scheduled events are as follows: Friday, August 9th Comfort Suites Hotel 6-7 pm: Pre-paid check-in and late registration 7-11 pm: A "Get to Know You" Social with buffet, DJ and karaoke. Saturday, August 10th Sacred Heart Hospital 8:30 am-9:20am Saturday Pre-paid check-in and late registration 9:30am-11:45pm & 1pm-4:45pm Three large size conference rooms and an auditorium are allowing for a variety of speakers scheduled throughout the day. Material covered will be for RSD/CRPS attendees as well as their family and caregivers. Family/Caregivers will have their own conference room for open discussions with other caregivers as well as with a psychologist team and other doctors. There will be a Medical Panel where doctors have a chance to learn from the RSD/CRPS client as well as an RSD/CRPS Patient Panel scheduled during the last hour of the symposium on Saturday. A beverage lounge and lunch buffet will be provided on Saturday and is included in the cost of the conference. Comfort Suites, Saturday August 10th, 2002 7pm-11pm There will be an ASRSD/CRPS Awards Dinner on Saturday, August 10th, 2002 from 7-11pm at the Comfort Suites in town. Do to limited setting of 96 people, this will be on a "first come, first serve" basis and is a "pre-pay" event. Cost of the Awards Dinner is $35 per person and will include an awards ceremony and music. Buffet will include the following: Roast Tip Sirloin w/mushroom Sauce, Vegetable Lasagna, Baked Ham w/pineapple, Chicken Marsala, oven roasted potatoes, rice pilaf, broccoli w/herb butter sauce, green beans almondine, and a desert table. Drinks are included. (Refunds for the Awards Banquet will not be given after July 7th, 2002). Sunday, August 11th, 9:30am-12:30pm Sacred Heart Hospital The Auditorium and conference rooms will again have planned events from both Medical professionals as well as RSD/CRPS community representatives. *15 minute breaks will be given after each speaker to allow attendees to rest, take meds, etc. as needed. **Childcare is being provided throughout the day on site at a cost of $3.00 per child during symposium hours on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a hospitality room provided for those that might need a rest during the day. We ask that attendees share this space thoughtfully. If you are attending the Awards Dinner, childcare is the attendees responsibility. Please make sure you register for childcare prior to July 7th to allow adequate time to provide supervision of children. ***Beverages and a lounge will be provided throughout the day during symposium hours. ****Transportation, lodging, breakfast and dinner on Saturday (if attendees do not purchase tickets to the awards banquet) are the responsibility of the attendee. Most hotels/motels in the area offer a complimentary continental breakfast. ASRSD/CRPS, Inc. will have a block of 60 rooms set aside at Comfort Suites on Hamilton Ave. in town (, please tell them you are with the RSD/CRPS Society Symposium or visit www3.choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/hotel/PA117 for more information). This block of rooms is on a "first come, first serve basis", so book your rooms early. These rooms can sleep from 2-6 people and include either 2 double beds and a pullout, or a king size bed and a pullout. The charge for the rooms is $93 a night, plus tax. Comfort Suites is approximately 7 minutes from the conference sight. We will have several vehicles available to shuttle attendees to and from the symposium site if needed. Lehigh Valley International Airport (www.lvia.org) is minutes away and offers excellent rates from around the US. Philadelphia is approximately 1 hour away and NYC is approximately 2 hours away.
