Please........ be VERY careful about weaning Depakote. You are very likely to

see withdrawal effects from this drug. It is notorious for causing big problems

when weaning....... so go VERY slow. Don't be surprised if you even see

withdrawal seizures. It's nasty stuff. There is a lot of information on weaning

Depakote in the archives over at another Yahoo list for the ketogenic

diet....... even if you're not interested in that diet, you might want to read

some of the posts about the experiences the other parents have had with weaning

Dep. You don't even have to join the group to go read posts..... just go to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ketogenic/ There is a search box at the bottom

of the main home page. Just put in the words " Depakote wean " and see what comes

up. It can be a very rough ride....... you just need to go super slow and be

patient. I'm not talking from experience ...... Katera has never taken that

particular seizure drug...... but have read the posts over there from many, many

other families.

You may find that his behavior is worse if you don't give him the Dep..... but

that might be a temporary effect. Still, it may take MONTHS after you give the

last dose before it's all the way out of his system. Be careful....... and

truly, I would talk to your doctor first.

Subject: Solaray probiotics

I would like to start my son on the probiotics, I purchased solaray

non- dairy, freeze dried Multidophilus powder, Does anyone know if

this is legal, also My son has not had a seizure in over a year and

a half and I reduced his depakote sprinkles to 1 tablet per day,

everytime I do not give him his sprinkle his behavior is worse, yet

when I give it to him he is really mellow does anyone have any

advise what I should do, I also purchase this supplement called

becalmd which is suppose to get your child off of adderal but he no

longer takes that because it zones him out, the bcalmd contains all

natural ingredients: calcium, magnesium, vitamin B-6, folic acid, Dl-

phenylaianine , L-Glutamine, 5HTP and gelatin, cellulos, silica, and

vegetable sterate if anyone knows what I can do about his depakote

or anything else please respond, without his depakote he is like a

little baby trying to explore getting into everything but he will

not sit at all, on the depakote he is so mellow and seems like he is

still out of it. Help Please any advise is much appreciated.

The solaray contains bifidum bacteria which is illegal. Please see

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowlege_base/kb/bifidus.htm

The becalmd looks okay.
