Guest guest
Teri - Thanks so much for letting me know. I've only been using it for 3 days so hopefully I haven't done too much harm. This is frustrating. I guess I need to call every the manufacturer every time I use cheese to make sure it is aged? Thanks Zachary 4.3 ASD? Guest guest
and Crystal - I made the same mistake. I used that delicious Woolwich goat cheddar from Whole Foods for Ian. He was doing okay with it. Since we live in another state from the store and it is a long journey, I bought many and we ate them. Then, on a subsequent trip, I got a batch with a new expiration date. Then Ian ended up in the E.R. and started several days of acid (at least I hope it wasn't a bacteria) attacks. I got very gassy, too. I called Woolwich to find out how long it was aged. It's not aged at all -- all of their cheese is fresh. Per Elaine, it needs to be aged for 60 days before leaving the factory. It might have been a coincidence that I got very gassy and Ian started G.I. problems and we started eating the cheese with a new expiration date, when the old batch at least had been in the wrapper for 60 days (but that is still illegal). Bottom line -- that cheese is fresh, not aged, from the factory, and it is SCD-illegal. Teri Re: advice please from moms with kids with autism Crystal - I just started using the goat cheese with Zachary this week. It is the Woolrich goat cheddar from Whole Foods. So far so good but it's still early, of course. Normal stools and good behavior and language. We are using Thropps Ultrazyme Plus enzymes also. I decided to try the cheese before the yogurt so I would have a better idea of whether he was having a problem with the casein or adjusting to the probiotics if we get negative reactions from the yogurt. Guest guest
Hi, , You're welcome. Unless it specifies on a label and you trust the label, I, personally, would call the manufacturer from now on. Fortunately, Woolwich was on the Internet and I was able to get a phone number. Otherwise, I have asked the health food store for the phone number of a farm that makes goat yogurt, and that wasn't fermented long enough. So, it's worth it to check.
