Guest guest
Amita, Is there any chance your son was dehyrdated, even slightly, when the blood was drawn? If I remember right, the low creatinine can be from dehydration. Jody mom to -5.0 and -7.
Guest guest
I am assuming the snacks did not include any liquids, right? I might see if you could rerun those particular parts of the panel and make sure that your son is well-hydrated before they draw the blood. I know that drawing blood is no fun, but it might help to see if the scores were out of whack because of dehydration. This info is taken from Labtestonline.org: High albumin levels usually reflect dehydration. Low levels of creatinine are not usually a cause for concern. High BUN levels suggest impaired kidney function. This may be due to acute or chronic kidney disease. However, there are many things besides kidney disease that can affect BUN levels such as decreased blood flow to the kidneys as in congestive heart failure <http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/conditions/chf.html>, shock, stress, recent heart attack or severe burns; conditions that cause obstruction of urine flow; or dehydration.
