Guest guest
Crystal, How are you giving the enzymes? Are you opening the capsules and mixing the powder into food or drink? If you're putting it in food, you have to be careful that you're getting the powder completely mixed in (no dry powder)..... and then having him swallow them down in a bite or two, followed by a drink or more bites of food..... so that none of the dry powder is left in his mouth or throat. The enzymes can burn and irritate the mucous membranes..... but they are fine in the stomach.... just need to get them down all the way into the stomach pretty quickly..... where they can mix with liquid in the stomach...... and give at the beginning of, or a short while in advance of a meal. Also.... never sprinkled onto hot food... or it ruins the enzymes. You probably already know all of this...... but just in case, I thought I'd post it. Patti prevail d.e Help, we are using these for my son and his reflux has returned with a vengeance. I read that if you have heartburn that they are not acceptable. Anyone else children with reflux having trouble with this and if thropps have maltodextrin which ones are legal? Guest guest
There is a Dr who has a lot of pts with DS and he has repeatedly said that enzymes +reflux = ulcer ;-) The problem is the enzymes don't REMAIN in the stomach but are refluxed up over and over causing damage.
