.... Boy am I glad to hear you finally have someone who will treat

you and listen to you. Your right, the staff of any doctors office says

a whole lot. Sounds like this doctor really knows his stuff and is

willing to do it step by step in finding the reason why your feeling so

bad.

I hadn't heard anything about Vioxx. Is there suppose to be a problem

with it?

Here's a funny for ya... I went to Wal-mart yesterday and I saw a patio

swing that I thought I would really like to have. I sat down in it and

realized that the bar in the front of the seat was hitting the back of

my legs and it was very uncomfortable. I went to get up and couldn't.

The harder I tried the worse it became. Finally all I could do was just

sit there and laugh. I'm sure people thought I was nuts but I just

couldn't help it. I finally had to crawl out and put one knee on the

ground and grab a chair near by to pull myself up on. As I'm doing this

I'm still laughing so that didn't help me to much. But, when I feel

good I forget that I can't do some things... guess that swing is out!!

Next I'll try a hammock.... now that should be an experience.

Cari, is the new ISP working out better for you?

I hope everyone else has a great day and weekend. I'm going outside and

do some watering while I still have the energy. Talk to you all later.

Thanks - He seems good but Ive only seen him twice and the second time

he was in a really foul mood. I just hope that that is not common behavior

as it really made me apprehensive !!!! Have a great day !!!!

Hey -

Yes I am a cat lover and also a member of catsegoups (DOT) I am owned by 7

little furry children and 2 of the two-legged variety as well. They all keep

me very busy and now with this lovely diagnosis, must beg for help from them

all (yes, even the kitties have a chore chart) !!! I have an appointment to

get my stitches out (from my biopsy) tomorrow and it is also my birthday so

am going to relax with a few friends for lunch and hopefully take it easy the

rest of the day !!! Can't wait !!! Have a great Sunday !!! >^..^<

Hi

I am also a " cataholic " being owned by four

fabulously finiky felines.........would love to

have them on a work chart......how do you

do that?????......mine think I live here ONLY

to cater to their every wish.

Happy Birthday! hope you had a great day

in spite of the stitches

I have dermatomyositis.....was dx in 1996 but

think it was coming on for years.....am supposedly in remission now but

with DM you

can't tell the difference! Most everything else

that is wrong with me is from the predisone.

Talk about a no win situation, right?

Hi Catz... OMG... I didn't look to see which ISP you have and now I see

you have AOL.... I've left my html code on because it doesn't seem to

bother the other service providers. AOL is the only one who can't read

html codes in the email. I'm so sorry for this. I'll make sure to

remove it when I send from now on.

AMEN !!! I hate this prednisone !!! I am dizzy all the time and just feel

plain yuck !!! Doctor decreased me from 40mg to 30 mg to try and relieve it

but to no avail !!! And he doesnt want me to exercise which puts me in a no

win situation too !!! I was finally able to get back down to my desired

weight of 115 pounds last summer and now have wrecked it all and am right

back at 140 again !!! Talk about a clothing investment !!! I think my

husband is going to take away my checkbook and my credit cards soon !!!!!

Another thing is my inability to get a decent nights sleep !!! He prescribed

a med to help me sleep but the side effects are dizziness and nausea, which

the prednisone already does so I didnt fill that one !!! Will try Tylenol PM

first !!!! Thanks for the birthday wishes !!! I am going to lunch with some

friends and then will come home and RELAX with the kitties !!!!! Have a

meowvalous week,

Polymyositis was my diagnosis. Did a muscle biopsy last week and it came

back good (checking for whole body inclusion). Nice, big incision on my

thigh but I did get a wheelchair ride through Sea World out of the deal from

my family !!!! The prices we have to pay, huh !!!!!

... now I'm very jealous... when I first entered the hospital I

weighed over 200 lbs and I had been on a diet which seemed like forever.

I couldn't figure out why I was gaining so much weight. While in the

hospital for 11 days I lost 51 lbs... wow.. I was a new person when I

got out. But they put me on high dosage of the prednisone and up went

my weight again. I had so many problems that they lowered it way down

and I started dropping weight again. Got down to 185 and I had a major

flare up so I had to go back to the 60 mg. Back up went my weight...now

I'm down to 2.5 mg a day and I'm just now starting to see my weight

going down. Lost 7 lbs last month and want to try for 40 lbs this

month. The doctor said no more than 5 lbs a month, yea right.... I have

clothes in all sizes...from tiny (size 6) to OMAR THE TENT MAKER

size..... I just went and bought a shirt... when I got home I decided

that if I didn't like it I can turn it into a table cloth. I have a

friend who has been fighting her weight all her life and she looks

really good... she seems to put it on all over... I don't.. I still have

the prednisone stomach but at least I now have my neck back. Still

sporting half of a water tower on my backside...

I found that Prednisone can cause a myositis in itself. Thats what was

happening to me. I'm doing fine with the prednisone down this low. I

won't go back on it again. That is my choice....

... If those don't work ask your doctor for Effexor XR 75 mg...

I have taken some of the others and they make me a sombie.... sleeping

up to 20 hrs a day and feeling dizzy all day long, while I'm awake.

This drug doesn't do that at all. I take it and it generally takes up

to two hours for it to make me want to sleep. Then I'm still able to

wake up if I hear a noise but while I'm asleep it sure gives me a good

nights sleep. Sleep lasts about 7 to 8 hrs. Unlike the others.

Just something else to throw at you.

Believe me OMAR the Tent Maker and I are becoming fast friends. But he can

forget the bathing suits this year !!!! Afraid that Sea World may get word

and send the rescue team to get me !!! I seem to carry it all in my stomach

too as my arms and legs are still like sticks. I feel like one of those

Cambodian refugees you see in National Geo !!! Have a great week !!!!!

And hello to you toooooooo !!! No, I am in Orlando (home of every theme park

known to man)!!!!! Our Sea World finally woke up and offered " locals " the

chance to pay for a single admission and have it converted to an annual

membership at no additional cost. (wonder what braintrust finally conjured

up that wonderful idea) !!! We took advantage of it and it was really a

nice thing. Im sure you can relate living in CA. - only the tourists get the

deals usually and the local people are forgotten about. Anyway, my birthday

has been very relaxing so far. In fact, I think I hear my bed calling my

name which can only mean one thing - NAPTIME !!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday--39 is REALLY young in case nobody mentioned it (I'll be 37

next month!) I know what you mean about the Prednisone. My ideal weight

was 120 and I've been on Prednisone since 1994 when I was diagnosed and have

gotten as high as 155. Now I am at 145. I now buy loose fitting clothes

like jumpers quite a bit--anything that has some " give " that I could wear

with 10 pounds more or 10 pounds less. It's so consoling to hear someone(s)

else moan about the weight gain. My firend has lupus and her doctor told

her " Fat or dead. " It kind of gets you between the eyes, but then, he's

male, so what do you expect!?!? Take care of yourself.
