It scares me because the 02 provider now checks my concentrator every few weeks to see if it is working correctly. I have also been through about 5 concentrators over the course of the disease. When it malfunctions, they bring a new one. Now, who does the upkeep? Can you imagine how much a tech coming to your house would cost. Did they mention who would supply the tanks? Nothing gets better! I use insurance but whatever medicare does the insurance companies do. Thanks for the info. Here in Oregon we have assisted suicide...we may as well be added to the list. I just can't imagine how any agency can allow people to basically lose quality of life and then die due to to lack of oxygen! I know we can't afford to purchase, buy or maintain oxygen equipment and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So...I will hold on and pray God will intervene for any who need oxygen long term.Hugs to all. Guest guest Posted March 22, 2007 Report Share Posted March 22, 2007 I have read, for the third time, the Changes to Medicare Payments for O2 and find that maintenance will be covered even after ownership transfers to the patient. The following is from the article: " For the final rule, CMS will make payments for general maintenance and servicing visits every six months, beginning six months after ownership, in addition to reasonable and necessary repairs, for beneficiary-owned oxygen concentrators and OGPE. Payment is limited to 30 minutes of labor based on carriers' rates. " It seems that a big worry presented by some members of our group is taken care of. Since government documents are not always the most succinct,I may have misread it. I would like to hear other comments on this facet of the payment change. So don't give up and call your congressman, representatives and others and help in the fight against making this the patient responsibility.
