Guest guest
Hi teddi, To do those toes....I sit on the couch with extra pillows then I make a stack of books for my feet and I bend with difficulty and barely reach those toes. Ha Ha. I've always had lovely nails and always taken care of them. One thing I don't understand how come my nails are so strong and long and my hair is so fine and dry. Yeah I also have trouble getting up out the wheelchair any low seats. How about the public toilets that's a challenge isn't there is no such thing as disabled restrooms to me. I've learned stand and squat, aim and fire. If you miss too bad HA HA. Here at home I have a raised toilet seat. Well my dear I'll leave you with that note. Guest guest
Hey Helen Can I have my pick of reasons? LOL I'm finally feeling like a person again after Sat. Makes me so mad to have to give in to it but you don't have any choice in the matter. You would not believe some of the pictures my mind brings up on how you manage your toes! hehe Hot here today but the humidity is lower. That's what really gets to me.......have trouble breathing. Granddaughter here for a couple of days so we went out to eat tonight. Pig out time " Have a good everning. Teddi
Guest guest
Yeah Helen.....and don't you just love the " handicap " restrooms with a door so heavy it takes 3 men and a boy to open it.....and you'r in a wheelchair! With my steroid gut and short arms my toes don't have a chance. My son and I went to a restaurant while I was still confined to a wheelchair. The hostess came up to us and said " upstairs or down " I looked at her ...then at my wheelchair......she said " OH " . And how about when you go to a store with someone and you are in the wheel chair and ask a question......who does the clerk answer? It makes my daughter so mad when they do that to her mom! Guest guest
Good Morning Helen, Cari & Teddi I know I should have answered you guys earlier but I've been so pooped. My lord Helen, just the thought of trying to do my toes would kill me right about now. Shopping yesterday wiped me out big time. While I was in the store at the melon counter, I broke out in a sweat you wouldn't believe. Thats my queue to hurry up and get out of there. Got the chills and BAM.... the fatigue hit me so hard. Like I told , by the time I got home I felt like I'd been hit with a truck. It's funny how you're so tired that even moving an arm to reposition yourself in bed is a chore. OH I HATE THIS.... I think we all should take 's advice and have a drink... with the exception of ... He can have milk... Speaking of Milk.... Do milk products bother you guys with DM.... I had read to stay away from Milk products and Wheat breads. It seems to work for some people and not for others. Just wondering. Well, got to get a shower. Couldn't do it last night thats for sure. I think I'm strong enough now to stand up and bathe. Talk to you all later. Hope everyone is fine and feeling full of it today. Guest guest
Vicki I know how tiring showering can be. If you get a hand held shower head and a stool for the shower it makes it much easier. When I first got DM my son moved in and took care of me. He even had to bathe me .....talk about what goes around comes around LOL. The first time I could take a shower by myself you would have thought I had just won the 100 yd dash! Amazing how simple things can be so important. I get around pretty good now but still use my shower stool and hand held shower. Believe in doing things the easiest way possible. Guest guest
Hi Teddi Teddi I'm sending this with my html codes still on. You'll get to see the picture of how I feel at the bottom. The rest of the group won't be able to because of how there email is set up. Sorry guys! I agree with you. I have a hand held shower head. I love it. But I don't have a stool in the shower. I've been putting it off. Somehow I look at it as giving in to the disease. But, I've called a friend of mine who sells these products and he is checking on the different models ... any suggestions? When I bought my property there was an older mobel home on it. I've been living in that for a long time now. But, I just purchased a new home and it should be arriving in about 6 weeks. I even had them install grab bars inside the shower for me. I Can't hardly wait. When I could finally stand up on my own and take a shower I was so thrilled I couldn't stand it. The simple things in life mean so much to me now. Have a good day. Hugs Vicki
Guest guest
<<This is how I feel today> Priceless..........I've had days like that too! (besides....I'm a cataholic) I don't look at the stool as giving in as much as giving me more energy for something more important. Priorities certainly change with DM. Aren't you excited about the new home? Tell me all about it. hugs Teddi
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, How are all of you? Haven't heard from anyone today. Hope all is well. I am doing well worked a few hours today. Feel stronger on the inside still. I had a couple of drinks for you last night CHEERS! My ex boyfriend of 13years works as a bartender here in Waikiki. We recently split up but a on very friendly terms. I haven't been to his bar since I got sick. Well I shocked the people that worked there. The Manager didn't know who the heck I was. I had to tell him ha ha. He said my eyes were the same and my spirit was very strong. Others knew who I was only because they saw me on TV. Vicki I have before and after pictures printed up on the computer I may ask a friend to e-mail them to you. If it works you could e-mail them on to everyone else. Teddi How are you doing? How's the heat? Do insist on trying the IVIG> Cari How are you and your family? What is going on with ? You to should insist on the IVIG treatment for . INSIST and PERSIST ALL Love and Aloha Helen ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Guest guest
Hi Helen Boy am I really happy to hear your feeling better....even on the inside. It will make such a big difference as you get further along. The list has been very quiet but I'm on 5 other lists and there all quiet. I quess the heat has taken it's toll on everyone. I'm sure alot of school shopping is going on also. I agree with you about being persistant. I feel it's the only way YOUR going to get anything done and done right. Thats not to say all doctors, some have the courage to say they don't know and are willing to do some research on this disease. I was not that lucky to find a doctor who wanted to take time out of his schedule to even check out the lab reports. My disease would not have progressed this far if he had only looked at the first lab report. So I'm all for asking alot of questions from your doctor. Like my Rheumy tells me. It's your health and you should ask all the questions you want and get all the answers. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I'm sitting in bed with my dog who is sick, and we're just enjoying the cool nite air. Good Nite Everyone Vicki
